what is the best year for the most capable, most reliable Tacoma? I have an 2008 and they have frame issues. I'm thinking that the 2015 might just be the best?

They all have frame issues. Just gotta get lucky when you look at one and then take good care of it.

Mechanically I'd say 2009+ are all about equal, after that it's really just about comfort and safety features.

All Years. They are all Tacoma's. They all have their Goods and their Bads but they will out last anything else out there. So All Years And All Tacoma's Are The Best.

I realize that they are all good. Maintainence is the key to longevity. But some model years require more maintenance than others. Some model years had headgasket problems, some had frame rust problems (Toyota replaced a shit load and that's pretty incredible for toyota to do this. I don't know of another manufacturer to do this) but I'm thinking that by 2015 had pretty much all of the bugs worked out.

Frames are Tacoma's Achilles heal on an other wise amazing little truck. Shame on Toyota for not addressing this over the years. My brother in law has an 86 that has been driven 250000 plus miles thru all those Ohio winters and the frame is going bad. Rather than give up the ghost he just welded more patches on the frame. He is determined to keep it going.

2008 if you don’t want the nannies.
2015 if you want the newest (with a rear view mirror from the 2013 or so of course).

i would say 2015 but i dont like how they tuned them down. my 2006 felt more peppy then my 2015. toyota changed the mapping on the engines to be more smooth.

Pretty sure the frame warranty was extended to 3rd Gen Tacoma’s just recently. 2g & 3g Tacoma frames are identical, including the rust problems lol.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/toyota-recall-on-3rd-gen-frame-rust.679596/

Other than that inaccuracy and the enormous 3G Taco hood nobody can see over, I agree with you haha

I’m going to say 2014. Has all of the features of the 2015’s but you still get to have the stand alone LCD clock. Nobody needs a Tacoma logo wasting space in the center of your dash.
