    Apparently the costway fridges are made in the same factory as the smittybuilt ones and are identical. When you type in costway manual on google the smittybuilt one pops up.

    Absolutely agree. That's I think the primary target for those compressor-less coolers - making your Coke cold when you're running the A/C in your truck. So the ambient inside your vehicle is 75F and it's an ideal 40F or so in the cooler. Plus being energy hogs Peltier types will be better using alternator energy rather than running your battery down fast.

    the costway on Amazon seems like a pretty safe bet. about $380 and pretty good reviews. friend of mine just picked one up, looks like good quality.

    That makes perfect sense! Wasn't thinking about that (the A/C of your vehicle doing most of the work). Makes it a lot easier than a fridge mounted under a closed up canopy parked in the sun on a 95 degree day.

    Something with a swing or Danforth compressor any one with a peltier junction will be an energy hog.
