Checked label on driver door jam? It will tell you what type of transmission you have

Says on the VIN sticker. Pretty sure you have the W59. R150 came on the v6 5-lugs, and the R150F came on all 4x4 Manual v6 trucks.

1995-2000 Automatic will be the A43D column shift, 2001-2004 Automatic will be the A44D floor shift.

1995-1998 v6 Auto 5-Lugs had the A340E, along with all Automatic PreRunners. 1995-2004 4x4 Auto has the A340F, while the 4x4 Manual v6 has the R150F. The 4x4 Manual I4 always had the W59.

Fun Fact: The Toyota Supra used the A340E, as well as Isuzu box trucks.

I’ve never heard of the “-b” designation before on the W59, is that what your VIN sticker says?

    Yep. F designates a 4x4 truck. I’ll fix that.

I think the 4cyl came with a w series tranny which is not as strong as the R series. But with the right adapter you can mount the stronger R series up to them. If I remember right.

Right. All 5-Lug I4 Manuals and 4x4 I4's came with the W59. The stronger transmission was the R150 series.

I think i heard guys take the r154 (which is from a supra i think) when they can find one and swap bell housing so it bolts up to a engine that came with a W. I could be wrong though
