What Toyota chassis has the most room to do a v8 Swap into?
    Tacoma 2nd or 3rd Gen.
    4runner?
    Old Toyota pickup.

    I don't want a tube buggy.

It will be my Rock Crawling Rig Strictly.
Will be mostly driven to the trail.
    Will need HVAC.

It will have a V8. and 1 ton axles

    What say ye?

What V8 are you planning to swap in?

The T4R was available with one for a few years.

A Tacoma with a Tundra V8 would be bad ass. A Tacoma with a US V8 would be sacrilege.

A 1uz fits in almost anything. It is common to swap them into 89-95 trucks. But I have seen then in everything. They are a small package.

    4 run, 2 don't
    4th Gen 4R is available with a 2UZ.

If it were me, I'd want one in a 1st Gen Tacoma.

I'd start by looking at wheelbase comparisons. Don't you want a short one for crawling?

Of course sourcing is a factor for older years, making sure the frame isn't rotten.

My WAG would be a 1st gen regular cab pre runner short bed.

Driven Desire in Cincinnati has perfected doing a v8 titan swap into an Xterra or Frontier. Someone has to have done it with a Tacoma no?

03' to 09' sport was available with V8.
Find one, fix it up and mod to your desire

LS swap isn't sacrilege,,, it's his truck, if he wants to put a pinto gas tank in or diesel swap so be it.

When doing a 350 V8 swap into a Tacoma you may get some snickers from the car show and cruise night crowds not that it matters. I saw that with a guy dropping a 350 into a 56 F100. There was such a stink that he was not allowed to compete in his class. Those guys are rediculous when it comes to orginallity. A Toyota V8 would get thumbs up. I got out of doing shows because I didnt want to be associated with that crowd. Its your truck so do with it what you want. I dont begrudge you for that but be prepared to meet some really ignorant people if you go that route.

Yeh a crawl box is a better investment with the current engine if its a strict crawler rig. I've seen 22re with a crawl box crawl over some crazy hard stuff
