Trying to attach a mini led push button puck light to front vinyl of seat. I have some clear plastic containers on passenger side foot well I want to discretely illuminate at night. J&B Weld epoxy doesn’t hold the puck light. Clear 2 part epoxy won’t hold for long. Neither does super glue gel. Double sided tape? Forget about it. Wiped it down with solvent beforehand. Not tried Gorilla epoxy, but I have my doubts. May need to contact NASA. Any suggestions?

Drive around with a young child with any form of candy for an afternoon. Park in sun then stick whatever you want to absolutely anything in the cab. If you have square 3/4” deep cup holders like me, an iced coffee can provide similar results.

You’re home remedy merely describes what double sided tape residue feels like after it peels off with any kind of warm cab temp.

Absolutely inaccurate. I have jelly donut residue that I’m fairly sure is holding my truck together

Make it out of human skin. My legs always stick to the vinyl.

Didn’t see an apolstery section, would have asked there. It was worth a try asking. Anyways, thanks for nothing.

By the way, my truck does get 4 miles less per gallon using Chevron gas over a no name brand like Circle K. Confirmed over 2 tank fulls of each. Deal with it.

Mine runs crappy on everything. 3m makes a double sided tape that’s holding windows in skyscrapers. Really thin layer of foam... not the crap you buy at Ace...

I tried 4 of those from your link besides the epoxies. Been on steroid and another big time med for rheumatoid arthritis recently. They’re known for affecting mood (irritability). Overreacted probably. Gonna look into 3M’s specialty double sided tape as kindly mentioned, if it’s not too expensive. Scruffing the surface with sandpaper might give whatever I use some “tooth” to grab onto. Also, super glue gel didn’t work, but Super Glue makes a pre-application liquid for plastics that might help for other glues. I’ve read of others trying to glue something to their plastic dashboards with equal frustration.

Clear silicone also holds pretty well too. I honestly had a Ford Tempo that a good portion of the interior was held in place with it. Caulking gun amounts. Lol. Headliner, passenger door skin, etc.

I've had ok luck with 3M 80 spray, just be sure to follow the instructions. If that didnt work then I'd try Shoe Goo.

At some point it may be easier to go mechanical with something like a canvas snap through the vinyl.

Tried Goop, heh...that makes about 7 adhesives and counting. That damn vinyl is downright diabolical getting something to adhere to it. That’s why I quipped I may have to contact NASA. They got those tiles to stick onto the shuttle. These push button mini led puck lights are super neato. Replaceable button batteries. Harder than hell to find now. I attached one to one side of the truck bed. Water tight.

Hehe...yes. Batteries Plus had one left on the shelf. Might be impossible to find soon. $14.99. They are pretty damn cool. Just wish I could get them to stick where I want them to. I stuck one in my glove box ok. Haven’t tried a glue gun yet. Don’t own one.

Are you able to pull out some of the seat bottom to install something like this?
    Screenshot_20210327-104712_Amazon Shopping.jpg

And then you could glue the opposite side to the puck light?

I wouldn't bother with a hot glue gun, I doubt that would hold for any length of time

I think we have a winner. Get something attached thru the vinyl as a base and go from there. Best idea yet, if I’m determined. Tool and grips don’t sound outrageously expensive. It probably equals what I’ve spent on various adhesives.
