I don't really consider myself an audiophile, I just love good loud, clean sounding music. That being said I upgraded the door speakers to Polk/Momo MMC690 6x9's and I found some new in the box Boston Acoustics FX6 (Legendary speaker from the early 2000's) for the rear doors. The biggest difference in sound to me though was when I installed Inifity Kappa tweeters in the front doors. Infinity makes some incredible tweeters, and these sound great.

    Good luck

Dangit - I was just about all set to pull the trigger on a 3 way setup using Tymphany NE65W-04's for the mids, and now I see this and realize the Dayton RS75's should fit too.... don't really want to order both and check out, but I may have to see if they'll let me check out both and return the others.....

try to get as much driver as you can as high as you can. if you can find a 3.5" that will fit the depth go for it. your soundstage height will raise with more bandwidth to the mids. i can post a pic of mine behind the factory grill next week. truck is in body shop this week.

not saying the 2" tympany is a bad choice but you will have to cross it higher leaving much for the lower door woofer to reproduce

Wondering what everyone else ended up with and how its going?

I went with a pair of FaitalPRO 3FE22 3" 4Ohm neodymium full ranges for the stock "tweeter" spot. They just fit behind the door panel and just fit in the stock holes. A mm more depth or diameter and it would be too big. I still need to modify the mounts for them though.

Going to run Dayton AMTpod-4 tweeters in the sail panel and then have a set of Dayton RS180P's that will be paired up in the front doors or put those in the back doors and something bigger if it will fit in the front doors

I mocked the mid / tweeter this weekend with first order crossovers and it sounded orders of magnitude better than the stock system. It still needs some sound processing to get where I want it, but wow, what a difference!

I may run with basic first order cross overs until I can save up for a mini-dsp and amps or another similar setup.

very nice. i have been preaching the fullrange tweeter replacement for quite some time. i am running the Dayton RS75. glad you got the Faital to fit. it really lifts the soundstage to near dash level. my tweeters are in the door sail panels.

i am getting a large 1kHz cancellation right now but it's not that noticeable when listening to music. more fun to work on later

Any pics of the mounts? I'm still working a lot of hours plus this weather sucks, but hopefully soon enough I'll be able to move the tweets out of the doors and place the mids in there.

Nothing yet - I just did a very quick plastic ring and washers between the stock mount and the speaker when I mocked it up.

Where did you put the 8s if they are under the seats do you have pics? I have 2 10s behind the seats and want to put some 8s under the seats with speakers and everything at some point the 2 kickers behind the seats are ok but not as much bang as I'd like but for free I can't complain.I plan on putting I'm a kicker 1000 watt mono block getting some Polk audio 10s and 2 8s with another amp. Also door speakers just not sure the plans on that. Sorry for the rambling just wanna see pics of your stuff if you don't mind

Alpine HU ,Alpine amp 400W , Focal components up front and 6.5 two ways in the rear and a 10" JL sub. Warning the focal tweeters will make your ears bleed.... lol...

I have a spare set of the rs75-4 I've used a while back. From home testing comparisons I like the wavecors a bit more. Not much options in the way of mounting, but I'm thinking about adding some sort of acoustic blanket around the rear to aid in getting a bit better resonance. Plus a front mounting gasket to make sure the sound is funneled out past the panel. Probably a long way from doing any of it though.

That looks really good I think I'm going to try to fit 2 8s under the seats I feel the 10s don't have a deep enough bass

That will be badass. Another option would be to just get better subs and a more powerful amp, would think the Polks would be pretty good. What kind of kickers do you have now?

Never really looked inside of a double cab. Same amount of room between front and rear seats as an access cab? I'm running a single Peerless xxls 10" in a relatively small box though it isn't fitted for the truck. It's a remnant from my former ride and used just to test the acoustics of the truck. It sits right behind the center console but bass is plenty and deep. It's soon to swapped for a more compact tolerant sub and fitting enclosure. Any reason why double cab guys don't exploit that?

I'm not entirely sure I got the whole set up for free so I couldn't complain but the basic shallow mount kicker 10s I think they are cvt? Anyways I plan on upgrading subs the amp and definitely door speakers but might put the 8s in just to that ass hole that shakes the block

The issue with mixing subs is that, if not 100% done right and each type playing their own bandwidth your going to have cancelation and some funky sound. IMO go all 8s or all 10s. Some good 10s will be just as loud as those 2 10s with some random 8s
