2022 SR Tacoma, base model, 2.7L auto. Looking at getting the 2" front/2" rear kit, front spacer lift with 2" block lift in the rear, something cheap and simple. The truck is driven for fun and rarely long distances, so ride quality isn't super important. Was planning on keeping stock steelies for now, but eventually want to go with a 0 offset or -12 offset wheel. Was going to go with tire size 265/75r16, since it fits stock, is that what size I should stick with?

Bonus points if anyone has pictures of this kind of lift.

Lift really doesn’t do anything for fitting larger tires. 265/75 - 16 should work.

The wheels are 16x8, -10mm offset.

Nice, do the 285/75/16 fit with no rubbing issues with the 2" spacer lift? Is that all you did was a block spacer in the front shock and blocks under the leaf springs? That's what I was looking at, the entire kit's like $300 and probably another $500 installed. Was going to go with 265/75/16 tires now, but if 285/75/16 fit no rub, I might just hold off until I lift it.

    Thanks

I used to have a 2” rough country leveling spacer kit up front. I have since upgraded to Bilstein 5100’s all around.

The 285 G003’s fit with the RC kit with little-to-no rubbing on the road. Off road you need cutting and trimming. Probably also need a CMC.

MPGs, braking and acceleration were garbage with the 33’s…but they were mud tires.

The 265’s will fit with no rubbing even at full lock and fully flexed off road. They are also much more road-friendly.

Sounds like the 265 will be the best investment then. TY

Yeah they are for me, I switched back to the 265’s after about a week with the 285’s. I do alot of driving and the 265’s are great. They look a little small with the 2” lift but they preform great.

I'm on a 2/1 Bilstein lift, 285/70/17s. No power loss, no fuel economy loss but then again I'm tuned with KDMAX and the speedometer is calibrated. I didn't notice any decrease in breaking performance so all in all I don't think the step up from 265s to 285s is of any concern.

Truck looks great all around. What was the mpg hit going to 285's?

On the digital readout it was about 2-3mpg. That’s obviously not 100% accurate but gave a general picture. I went from 265 all terrains to 285 mud terrains.

    285/70r17 on a 17×9 +1 2" front 2" rear no cmc

Wheel offset and alignment is more important than lift. You can likely run a 285 on the street but if you intend on using it you will want a uca and and high caster alignment.
You will feel the larger tires you can't add rotational and unsprung weight and not get a negetive result. Modding these trucks is a game of compromise.

Pay a tad more and get 100% ride improvement with 2" Bilstein 5100s up front, and 1" block in the rear, for a perfectly level Tacoma. More importantly get rid of the oem brake dive.

To be honest everyone, probably not going to end up going with the lift. Realized I can fit the tires I want (265/75/16) with stock form, only reason I wanted to lift was to fit more aggressive offset wheels, but don't think that's gonna make a difference.

Wise choice if you stick to that size with a wheel no more than a 0 offset you'll run into very little if not 0 rubbing and you'll be suprised how much of a difference in stance that offset will make.

I was looking at the SCS F5 or Ray 10’s (likely the Ray 10’s). Apparently over in the wheels and tires thread someone else runs -12 and said it fits and only rubs the plastic wheel liner at full lockout. Looking at -25 offset and the poke is too much without a lift. Gonna go 0 or -12 offset max.

thanks again for any tips fellas. Still learning the truck world
