I'm looking into trading my Subaru in for a 2011 Taco with 68,500 miles on it for $22,900 - mainly for the additional space.

The vehicle I'm looking at is this certified 2011 Toyota Tacoma Base Access Cab. I'm basically looking for any advice on where to start research on what I can expect out of this Taco as far as when things start breaking down, what I should be looking for before pulling the trigger on buying this, etc.

I'm new here and have searched around and read a bit - I realize a similar answer may have already been provided, feel free to point me in the right direction.

Thanks for your time! Hope to join the Taco family soon.

    Welcome to TW!
Looks like a pretty sweet truck there, but it doesn't look like a base model, its a TX Pro TRD. Seems like a good price, but still see how far down they will go on it. I didn't know they came in Speedway Blue either (best color). Good luck to you, I would definitely get it.

What I always find kinda irritating is how they always label them as base models, then it's actually something really good like a Sport or OR. I've visited a couple dealership sites and usually on their used inventory their "base" models are seldom as described

A few additions to make me feel cool.
If the frame is not rusted and it does not show a major collision buy it ASAP! That's a good deal. I have never seen a TX Pro in blue. Welcome to TW.

What kind of Subaru do you have?... as far as the truck, the Tacoma is a great vehicle, if it's lifted just check the work, again check frame for rust, pretty much it.

Check for frame rust by the catalytic converters, especially if it's from the mid west or east coast. The car fax should show where it has spend most of its life.

I've currently got a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek, which I love - but I'm looking to transport more gear and spend time sleeping in the back. Have a few friends with Taco's and it seems to be a no brainer. I'll certainly miss the 36mpg but you can't have it all!

Thanks for the feedback - sounds like the main concern would be rust, as it has spent it's entire life in Indiana.

Pretty sure they did not make a "Speedway Blue" 2011 Tx TRD Pro. The only colors it came in that year were MGM ( I Got Dis one ;)), Barcelona red, Black and white. The Red was EXTREMELY Rare as in I tried to find one across the country however could not... Also it does not have the TRD Skid plate and it is supposed to come with along with the JBL package (It would have the JBL emblem outside the speaker compartment in the cab). I would run a VIN# Check on it to confirm.... In all honesty looks like someone put a TX TRD Pro sticker and fake bead lock wheels and said hey its a "PRO".

Thanks for the input, when I run some VIN checks online it looks to be the base model. I'm unsure of how I feel about someone just slapping on TRD Pro stickers - although to be fair the dealer is advertising it as base I guess.

Looks like it has the rear diff lock, do the base models have the locker?

My guess it definitely is not the base mode. Its probably an OR in my opinion (Don't quote me but like 95% sure). You're also getting those bead lock wheels and a camper shell that I am jealous AF about and with under 69,xxx Miles that boy is gonna run forever!. It's just seen the beginning of its life. Try to talk em down to if they are selling it as a "Base Model". Probably can get it for less!

Looks like a off road with pro sticker due to rear diff lock. But year, price, mileage is still good if just the off road. Wife paid $18500 for 2012 sr5 DCSB with 140k miles. 1 owner and 26 service records sold me on it.

Frame is the main thing to check as everyone has stated. To me I don't see a base model. It is and OR version with the locker, down hill assist, chrome grill surround and rear bumper. Maybe the previous owner was from Texas?

It is all Port installed options so will not show up on carfax. Judging by the fact it has the black tube steps, TRD exhaust, bead-lock wheels, as well as the graphics I would say this is a true TX Pro.

Edit: And you have the bed plug so it is a TRD Off road with the TX Pro package.

they never made a TX Pro in blue. Also, when was the years that they had TX Pro or TRD Pro (not a turd gen) ?

So with the color it sounds like it's something done custom / aftermarket?
