What Lift Kit Should I Get?

I have been doing a lot of reading on the forum and I think I've narrowed it down to getting the OME complete kit (w/881s) from Wheeler's Off-Road Inc. Currently I have stock leafs with 167k on them and a 1.25-1.5 spacer on the front. There are about 60k mi on the current shocks and struts which were KYB from RockAuto in 2014.

I am wanting to replace it all with a kit that includes new leafs, coilovers, struts, and shocks. I would prefer a 2" to 2.5" lift in the front and rear. I like a little bit of rake and do some hauling but nothing in the bed 100% of the time. Debating a toolbox...

Are there any other kits I should be looking at? Any discounts with the holidays? I noticed that Wheeler's also has the Trail-Pro and All-Pro kits as well. I ultimately want to keep this around $1750 or less. I don't do any rock climbing, just occasional, mildly rough terrain.

Check out Ironman, they’ve got Foam Cell and Nitrogen kits to choose from. You can get a full kit for 1100-1800 with full leaf packs. They have 30% off for Black Friday too.
Lots of other good choices too. I’ve got the Foam cell and the only complaint I have is the ride with no extra weight is stiff. I also have E rated tires, which don’t help. Get the lower rated springs if you go that route.

    6112/5160 with a deaver pack

larger diameter, better damping with less chance of fade, and more adjustability in ride height

Any recommendation for a 1-2" mild lift for washboard roads and some minor rock crawling with approx, 400lbs in the bed?

Tell me about it lol. We were just in death valley for 4 days and it was quite rough even after airing down. Felt like the steering rack was going to blow at any point in time.

    Wrong gen :burp:

    OP wants a complete "kit"

They don't offer a leaf pack replacement but it's nice to see they do offer shocks.

I found my King 2.5's front/back to really soak up washboards like a champ.

I expect any 2.0 or smaller setup to fade immediately.

Whoops… they still offer suspension stuff for that year, but no kits.

My mistake @NurseJenny I’ll see myself out. Good luck!

How often do they need a rebuild?

I rebuild my front shocks at roughly the same interval I'd replace non-rebuildable shocks: ~50k.

    Regular driving, 50-60k recommended intervals.

If you off road often, 25k.

I'll be getting mine done at 30-35k....I'm at 26k miles on my fronts and maybe 10-13k miles on my rears.

On my 2003 double cab, I went with OME and installed the Dakar add-a-leaf when I put the 300lb camper on the truck (no gear).

It was great in Death Valley on the hours of washboard in Saline Valley. I could do 60mph easy. The trick is to find the minimum speed on washboard before you start "floating" over it rather than chunking through every little feature on the dirt road. It was about 30mph for my truck. Keep in mind that stopping distance off-road increases greatly, even with upgraded brakes.

I would recommend the OME for perfect fitment, no missing parts, etc. I bought from Wheeler's back in the day.

Also, go with LT tires in a C rating if you have Passenger/highway rated tires. Do NOT go with D or E rated. They are WAY too stiff for the lighter 1st gens unless you're heavily overloaded with bumpers, skids, two full size spares, headliner patch collection and all the other bolt-on Overland AF junk.
