Going to be pulling the trigger on some Thule AeroBlades for the cab of my DCLB. What length are those with AeroBlades running? 53" or 60"?

Did you get them? I got a set about a month ago and can't get rid of high pitched whistling above 60mph which is a show-stopper. I've gone through 5+ repositionings, 2 fairings, wrapping rope around the front bar (seen on another forum), and electrical tape around the endcaps.

About to call it and take these things off.

53 inch, based on the recommendation from a rack site where you input your vehicle. I love the functionality and look, just not the damn whistling.

I decided to go a little longer as I bought a Hullavator Pro for my kayak and a longer bar is recommended as the kayak rack swings down to the side of the vehicle in order to clear the side mirrors. I'll let you know if I have any issues

Installed my 60 inch bars yesterday. Only have about 40 miles on them so far. Over half of which are highway. I'm not getting any whistling. I will get an occasional humm between 75 and 80mph, but not very noticeable. Can't be heard with radio on, pretty much have to be looking for it

Did you put the rubber stripping in the channel of the cross bar? On the bottom? I had whistling until I did that. Quiet as a church mouse now.

    Hey Guys,

Just wanted to add a few pics of the Thule aeroblade 53 inch roof rack.

Hopefully it helps someone out there.

    They’re pretty awesome and quiet.

I have an ARE V topper with a Vantech J1000 rack (similiar to Yakima and Thule aero bars). The permanently fixed Vantech rack was a lot cheaper than the Yakima or Thule tracks + rack and it meets my needs for paddle boards and surfboards.

The rack came with 60" crossbars but it stuck out way to far for my personal preference. I've cut them down to around 48".

They do whistle pretty bad so I'm going to try to use duct tape on the bottom and top of the crossbars where there are openings. There is rubber strips in the top opening but not the bottom.

If I was between 53" and 60" crossbars for a Tacoma topper or roof, I'd personally go 53" (or even 48"-53" if available). You can cut most of these pretty easily with a hacksaw to whatever length you like and they normally have end caps that would cover your cuts.

See below for some pictures of mine.

Just installed 60" bars on my roof. Some people like no over hang, I like lots of over hang as you can fit a lot more stuff on you roof.

I drove for the first time today at higher speeds and it does make a little noise. No whistling. I think it'll go away once I put rack pads on.

This system makes it really easy to take racks on and off. The landing pads stay on.

What did you set the scales to on the underside?

I'm not sure I understand the question?

Depending which towers you use, you may have a slightly different span between the towers. I split the differences between the 2 overhangs.

Yeah, the setting will depend on your type of tower. You'll have to adjust to fit. Good example is the span between the front pair od towers is different than the rear pair of towers.
