Good morning and happy Friday TW group!

Quick questions...but first some details. I have a 2017 TRD OR LB. Still stock suspension. I have a camper shell and a Decked toolbox installed. I also carry around some fuel, water, and basic "get myself out of trouble" tools.

I am shopping around for suspension lifts and I want to know what you guys (that carry around a lot of bed weight) have gone with in terms of leaf packs, or AAL, or 3 leaf progressive packs like the one from Headstrong...

Truck below for reference! Thanks for the help guys.

I don’t mud, crawl, off-road, overland or any of that stuff. The only thing i always carry are my golf clubs. But I still had a custom pack built by Alcan. It was well worth the extra $

Regarding AALs whether single or 3 leaf progressive are all about the same quality so the difference in price is usually name branding.

I went with Wheelers as it came with all new hardware and was the cheaper option. Not sure what you mean by alot of weight but if it's a fiberglass shell or loaded bedrack I'd consider a full leafpack replacement.

Thanks for the help guys! sounds like a full leaf pack replacement is the way to go.

I usually have around 200 lbs in the bed under normal daily driving, and then I add gear (another 100+ pounds, probably) for the occasional camping/fishing/offroad trip. I have the Icon 3-leaf AAL, just because it was convenient and cheaper to go with it as part of the suspension kit, but all the AALs are probably the same. Anyhow, it's a little stiff in the rear (ugh, "stiff in the rear"... don't laugh) but it's not to bad and it maintains the factory rake.

I went with a single Deaver AAL, but I'm kind of kicking myself now wishing I'd have just spent the extra $ and went with the heavy duty Dakar pack. Like you, I have a shell and I also tow a lot.

    Thanks for the input!

I don't tow much, but i keep a constant amount of weight back there, the Decked tool box isn't light, and i will also be adding a Prinsu bed rack shortly after the suspension upgrade. So i think the full heavy duty pack is the way to go.

HD Dakar here. I have a cap, full prinsu and usually between 3-500# of gear and work stuff in the bed. I also tow weekly.

The Dakars are fine, but I promise you they will squeak. If that is no big deal to you they are pretty good. Ride is fine, firm, but not jarring. Full HD pack with 3 degree shim gave me about 2.5"-3" of lift.

Ordered my Dakar HD pack last week. Should be here in a few days. I'm ordering the leaf pack liners as well to put on each leaf prior to installing pack to prevent any squeaking like mentioned above. I have roughly 200 pounds daily in the bed and push that number closer to 450 every few weeks when I go fishing/camping
    Will give updates once installed.

Deaver U402 Expedition Stage 3 on my truck. It's a second gen, but 3rd gen uses the same pack. I think the Deavers have been great, nice progressive pack, so not a harsh ride when not loaded down. Obviously Stage 3 would be too much for you (2.5inch lift at 700-1000lbs constant bed weight), but stage 1 is 0-300+, and stage 2 is 400-600lbs constant. I believe lift is a bit less on the 3rd gen.

I went with the heavy duty Dakars, I have not had any squeaking at all, I hope I didn't just jinx myself. I had a rack and tent on when I went with the heavy duty leaf pack, Now I just have a shell so it was rough until I pulled one of the overload springs. Rides much smoother now. I imagine when I load it down with gear or throw another roof top tent onto my shell I may need to put the overload back in.

Sounds just like my setup! how much lift did the HS progressive AAL give you over stock?

And by chance, what shocks did you go with on the back? and what did you do up front to match the rear?
