Had a flat tire that needed to be plugged. Went to use the jack I have in my garage guess what? it's too short. Damn Walmart special. Ended up using the one that came with the truck, it was a pain in the ass. So I was thinking about getting a Daytona from HF. Want one that'll obviously have enough reach to get the wheel off the ground. That one is gonna be on sale this weekend

What jack locations did you try with the floor jack?

That’s what I use. A harbor freight Daytona. Sometimes I don’t even use jackstands, but don’t tell anyone.

Probably safer than using a HF jack stand

I have the Harbor Freight Pittsburgh line 3 ton low profile. It's pretty damn close to the Daytona! I haven't lifted my 3rd gen with it, but worked on my 2nd gen just fine!

    It lifts plenty high enough

I'd definitely check it out, I think I bought mine for around $120 a couple years ago. Even at $150 I'd buy it again!

I have the HF Daytona 3T in the fancy bright green.
    It's fine.

It can be a bit "touchy" on the let down, but that's true of every hydraulic jack I've used.
Is this one "more touchy"? Meh?

This one is perfectly capable of jacking up the entire front of the truck on the factory jack point. It's also quite capable of jacking up the entire rear of the truck under the rear diff.
    Use jack stands for safety.

Just because stuffs made in the USA doesn't make automatically it good quality. I'd trust more Chinese made stuff than half of the USA made junk that people gobble up just because its made in the USA.

I'll continue to buy my "Chinese bullshit" while maintaining my "integrity".

I’ve had this one for over 10 years and still works great. Pretty lightweight too since it’s mostly aluminum. Prices have sure gone up a lot though. I’m pretty sure I paid either $69 or $79 for it back in the olden days…

Years ago, I bought a Lincoln floor jack that was made in Taiwan and said something like "Quality inspected in the U.S.A".

It had a casting bur on one of the wheels so big that the wheel wouldn't turn.

This is a common thing i get from some friends. It ain't built in the USA I ain't buying it. Yet they drive a never Dodge and Ford which may have more Cinese parts on it than any Toyota. Maybe

Just for the record hydraulic jacks and the parts to fix them are still available. The American jacks were made to last a lifetime and are easily rebuildable. Go to garage journal.com see what people are doing.

It seems that people here are smart enough to work on their trucks but cannot build a simple hydraulic Jack. It’s the same as building a caliper or wheel cylinder. What could be more American than be self sufficient and passing down to next generation with the expectation that the knowledge stays within the family and in the country you profess to love and support with your displays of flags ?

Here are more examples of American made Walker jacks. This model line was in production from 1939 to 1960 and all the parts are readily available. The larger one pictured is rated at 8000 lb capacity. Your harbor freight junk is not rebuildable, you’ll be buying more in the long run.
