Kodiak 166E hybrid. 52 gallon fresh water tank, 39 gallon grey, 29 gallon black. We stay a week at a time offroad/offgrid with those capacities. Two batteries and two LP tanks on the tongue. 17'9" length, two 60x80 queen foldouts. The LP tanks last about the same seven days running the furnace/refrigerator/water heater.

Fully enclosed and insulated underside (unlike many trailers), 6.3 cubic ft fridge and 2.4 cubic ft freezer. Great offroad through desert washes (sitting in it right now on BLM land near Yuma, AZ).

I'd like to have a popup like a Aliner or HiLo, but they have smaller tanks and smaller refrigerators, no freezer, smaller beds. Some people like the popups, Casitas, Aliners, and that's fine, but to have the huge tanks, full bath anytime, offroad capability, onroad storage, passthrough storage, two 60x80 beds that the Kodiak hybrid provides that's too sweet to pass on.

It's the offroad capability and maneuverabilty that makes the Kodiak nice. So easy to turn around and maneuver in the desert, but still have the huge tanks.

I am very interested in the Scamp, probably a 13', tho a 16' is not out of the question. Any feedback I can get would be appreciated. I live in FL and mildew/bottom rot is an issue. My understanding is that the Scamp is all fiberglass and does not need to have the top coated every year-is that true?

I'm not an expert on fiberglass to know the effects of sitting in the Florida sun, but I've never heard of anybody coating their roof on one. It is no different than a boat. There is a fiberglass trailer forum site at:
    www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/groups/1-scamp+trailers.html
that not only you can find information like here on T.W. but also people selling used ones. Also google "Scamp" and see available options. This is my second one, my first was a 5th wheel.

Pulled it around the Wetmountains here in So CO without much of an issue as long as I kept the 40 gallons of water out. Worried about the tongue weight and have considered cutting back the front deck, but that may be too much of a headache. If anyone has a great lessons learned for a top kayak rack, I'd like to hear it.

    Gooseneck? How's the turning radius?

I picked up an 80's 5th wheel that weight wise is within the tacoma's realm, but I don't see it as being a good idea through the mountains with our wind.

With the hitch set in the correct position in the bed I was able to turn the truck at a 90 degree angle. The measurement needs to more than from the center pin to the outside corner of the bumper.

As of yesterday proud new owner of a 2010 jayco 1006.

Pulled it home about 70 miles and not too bad at all. Question when pulling it. Are you all putting it in drive or 4 and go?

Coleman Westlake here.....and I usually pull in 4th. The big tires make the tranny shift a bunch when towing.

Are you still running the 35's? Or did you go back to 33's? I knew you were talking about it at one point.

On 33's now (see pic above, Sig pic is with 35's) and it didn't help gas mileage or towing a bit. I'm going back to 35's when these wear out.

I tow in Drive on long flat runs.....as long as the tranny is shifting around to maintain speed. Once I hit the hills, it's back to 4th.

I am used to getting around 276-312 out of tank with my old 33's. After towing my camper home, then driving to nashville today with the old 33's in the back I still squeezed 276 out of a tank. And that is stock gears. So Hopefully with the 456's I'll be back up to around 300+ either way I will take the 35's over the 33's any day of the week. They just look so much better.
