These for 6 ton needs. They have a lock pin, which is nice.

    https://www.amazon.com/Torin-Big-Steel-Jack-Stands/dp/B00026Z3DQ?crid=13P1C68RIKKJZ&keywords=6+ton+jack+stand&qid=1644260790&s=automotive&sprefix=6+ton+%2Cautomotive%2C108&sr=1-4

I've also got some 3 ton ones from harbor freight, but I don't use those very often. Some of the 3 ton jack stands from harbor freight were recalled a while back.

Also, I use the some of the older grey rhino ramps, the newer black rhino ramps, 6x6 wood blocks for wheel chocks and an Arcan XL 325 floor jack from Costco.

Most of the time I'm only removing one maybe two wheels while working on cars, while the other tires are left on the ground. I always use some combination of jack stands, floor jack, ramps, ect.

The older I get, the less I enjoy crawling under vehicles to work on them. I've seen a few tragedies over the years with floor jacks and jack stands that have given out and collapsed.

I have these for the track
Harbor Freight lifts $69 on sale.jpg
I use these four red jack stands for extra safety when working under a vehicle on the lift. They can support the Taco and my other rolling stock without the lift. I usually locate them on the four corners of the vehicle and crank them up so as to take much of the weight off of the lift. I've weighed all of my vehicles so I know where their CG is and I try to get it close as possible. I also have an inclinometer on the lift to tell me if I have made a mistake with too much weight one way or the other.

I make my living in risk management. It wouldn't do to lose my life under a badly balanced car that wasn't spotted on the lift correctly.

Yeah, that's a good price. I bought them in 2009 and they were almost that much. I put a short piece of 2x4 between the jack and the car. Back when I was still crawling under cars. I'd put four of those HF jackstands under there AND keep the two jacks under there too. I still worried: A high school girlfriend's big brother had his dirt track car fall off jack stands on him. His mom heard it and went out there and jacked it up off him. He got out from under it, took a short break, then got back under it. Junior is one tough man.

I used the cribbing method before I got my 6 tons. I had a bunch of 2' 4x4 cribbing left over from when I fixed my front porch. I figured if it was good enough to support my porch, it was good enough to support my tacoma.

Prolift 6 ton and Duralast 4 ton. I always use add'l safety measures. The number of which depends on how much space I need to move around but will usually use backup stands and leave the jack in place after getting the vehicle rested on the stands. If you're skinny like me shoving the tires under the frame might save you as well.

I always use jack stands for safety since I've been out on my own. Back in the 70's my brother dropped a transmission on me. We were trying to muscle it out from under the car and it slipped (69 Cutlass). Didn't drop more that a couple of inches, but dam that thing has heavy as shit. No serious injury, and I managed to squirm out from under it. I will admit it scared the crap out of me, not literally. We made do with what we had, and that wasn't much. Shade tree mechanics on a cheap budget.

I'm looking at these from O'reilly

I just went to Harbor Freight this weekend and returned one pair of 3 tons, and two pairs of 6 ton stands. They offered store credit, or cash/card refund. The store credit option gave $5 more for each 3 ton pair, and $10 more for each 6 ton pair. I cashed out on all three pairs. The new HF stands have a pin that goes in the teeth, but I'm going to try a different brand like Esco or Big Red this time.

I use Esco three legged jack stands, but they are a little pricey. The triangular base never wobbles, even on slightly irregular ground. The "normal" jack stands are not quite as stable. Always (always!) put the wheels under the car once they are off for extra safety.

Hey Key Rei, I just came across two free 12 ton jack stands and before I buy two more, they seem a bit tall, 19/20” or so without lifting the slide. I dig the idea of having a tall Jack stand without having to lift the slide up which always makes me nervous but I’m also wondering if lifting one end of the truck high enough to sit these bad boys on the frame would be detrimental to my suspension while the other sits low in waiting for me to raise it to match. This might be a stupid question:crapstorm:, what do you think, how tall are your stands, I do have a 3/4” lift from a third Gen suspension but I know I’m still going to have to Jack the truck up a fair amount to clear the 12 ton stand. Thanks!

No detrimental effect to raising one end of the truck first.

Raising the slide up is not cause for concern either (unless you live in an earthquake-prone area) but then you would have problems even without the sliding part raised up. Just don't raise the sliding parts to the point where the truck feels wobbly, and always, always verify that the truck is rock solid after it sits on the jack stands (in addition to keeping the removed wheels under the truck).

I got my Big Red 6ton stands from Costco. I’m not positive on the price, around $60 (pre-inflation).
My 1st gen 4x4 is lifted and these stands are perfect for me.IMG_0004.jpg

I have Big Red 6 Ton jack stands and a Big Red 3 Ton Jack - my local ranch supply store is a Big Red shop. Carlyle makes quality equipment as well if you have a Napa near you.
