12 ton stands from Craigslist not for the weight but for the height, they're yellow bases with white pedestals.

Except where they got paint over spray on them, in which case they're also red gray blue and black.

A jack stand is a jack stand I really wouldn't over think it.

I'm originally from upper Manhattan, nostalgically known as Spanish Harlem. Bensi boxes or removable faceplate radios were required equipment along with wheel locks & keyed ignition cutoff switches. Once as I approached my car in the early AM a babyfaced delinquent punk sprinted off leaving his slim jim sticking out of my door.

The 4 ton ones my boss has(tundras).....I'd have to jack up/ block...block up jack....and jack up 2nd time just get onto the 4tons.....what a PIA.....

Seriously I've always used the 3ton ones....fine for my rwd.....

However I bought a little short 2 ton set from napa.....use to suport axle, shafts, all the stuff the 3ton was too tall for....

An old modified scissor jack off an old Astro van uses a 19mm socket to drive it... my fav tool......used to set/lower everything on the 2ton ers....super handy, super fast.....

Really having more than one floor jack is a big plus.....cuts some job times almost in half....between me and my neightbor, we have 5 of em.....so for big jobs....borrow...

Please don't fuck around with shit like this. A lot of people may know it's a joke. A few may think they'll be alright. Nobody should even consider this.

Quick tire places may do it but that doesn't make it ok, even if they're at a lower risk of injury since they shouldn't be crawling under.

My wheeling buddy died doing shit like this. Even with 2 tires on the ground, in a level garage, the vehicle shifted and fell off the jacks.

I thought it would be funny but I see that I was wrong and understand that this was not the place. Sorry if I made you mad in any way. I'll take it down.

All the mexican tire places around here do that....all wheels off, up on two jacks....but its for minutes, and they're not wrenching, other than shooting the lugs back on.....like I said earlier...much faster.....like half.....

When I was a kid a camero fell on my cousin......only thing saved his life...is he weighed north of 350lbs....
So I was raised to over kill on safety.........in a wrench family.....fire extingusher handy ect....

And actually more concern about property damage than anything.....'I fixed your car...BUT....'

It's alright, maybe we can help someone with limited experience or judgment from making a life altering or ending mistake :)
