The new canopy I have just had put on is perched atop the plastic rail caps that trim out the bed sides on the back of the truck.

It seems that I might get a better fit if I remove these trim pieces.

Does anyone have a pic of just what is under there?

    Thanks,

I think KB VooDoo has pics of that, maybe.

Anyway, it's a normal bedside top, even has stake pocket type holes.

Your going to want to remove the plastic bed side rail caps and reinstall your new canopy for a better fit in my opinion. The bed side is a normal top with 4 pocket holes i believe.2 on each side of the bed.

From KB Voodoo's bed rail system. The light grey gasket there isn't under the bed cap, thats for KB Voodo's bed cap syst, which would give you an awesome flat surface for your canopy!

That cap sit higher than any I've ever seen. Mine fully covers the plastic bed rail.

Here you can see the gap between the the tailgate and the hatch. There is too much backlight at the moment to photograph the canopy rail bent down at the ends of the large side doors.

With a canopy like the one OzT has there is a cut from a fiberglass panel for the widow or door. With the DCC type door there is but a simple extrusion of aluminium that has little inherent stiffness.

    Thanks all for the pics!

It looks like you have about one inch of foam between the cap and side rail? Seems like that may be your issue

What you can't see is the clamps bending the Aluminium down tight in two spots, foam flatend, there is no gap there.

The thing really looks to be designed to fit with no plastic bed rail cap.

Perhaps this pic shows the bent bottom rail of the canopy. Tight at the clamp, about 1/4 inch or more up in the middle.

The wood block on the other side fell out on the ride home...image.jpg

Can anyone comment on where to get aftermarket bed rail caps that have access to the stake holes? I'm not adding a camper - just want to be able to mount my CB antenna in a stake hole.
