What is tsb?

I've been seeing things about a tsb leaf or something from the dealer? what is this?

 

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin.

 

It's when Toyota, or any other vehicle manufacturer, issues a fix for a non safety issue item. They issued one for the leaf springs because some people were having problems with their trucks were hitting their bump stops from inadequate springs.

 

Not to hijack OP's post, but just curious:

Is a TSB the same as a recall? Also, does Toyota send you a notice of some kind stating the TSB, or is it primarily up to us to keep track of and research TSB's?

The TSB's are internal to the Toyota tech network. They don't publicize a tsb as they would a recall. It's more of a reference for tech's to say, "hey guys we're having this problem pretty often and here's what it is, and what to do about it"

 

No notices for TSB. They only apply if you come in to complain about an issue and they have a current TSB. Note that being out of warranty will mean they won't necessarily honor a TSB.

I actually had this service completed on my new 2012 Taco about 6 months ago.

They changed my leafs for me and hooked it up. Much better ride now!

 

If you are out of a warranty, can you still get the tsb and have it paid for by Toyota?

 

Is it covered under the extended warranty?

 

Cool. I have about 100 miles left on my extended warranty. I will take it in and see if it will be covered.

My gold plan does not cover the leave springs. The platinum does though. Bummer! Oh well. Thought I would give it a try.

 

So does that mean it'll lift my truck if it's an aal?
