    Not sure as both of mine are sunglasses holders in my 15, but I believe in 2005 to 2009 or 2008 it had a compass temperature gauge there.

    for a garage door opener. You can set up your opener in that compartment and then just push the button to open/close the door.

    Yup, its just that simple, a mounting place for your garage opener,and as not all openers are the same they give you the extra spacer blocks for adjustments.
