I am really interested in both of these campers, and attracted to the lower price point and weight of the OVRLND. However, that company is relatively young and small compared to FWC. I also haven't seen a lot of good reviews of the OVRLND on here, there are more for sale threads than anything.

Does anyone have insight regarding differences in quality between these two shells? Thanks in advance.

I loved my first and second OVRLND camper, i believe the one for sale on here is my old one. I had #3 on my Tacoma and loved it, had a couple of small problems but all were solved pretty easily.

My second camper ive had since February and love it, the fit and finish and ease to work with has just gone up. The couple of things over project M i would consider is the ability to custom order most anything, the camper is build to the truck so you will have a lot less fitment / dust issues or at least smaller gaps to fill. Like you said the OVRLND is lighter than the project M.

Thanks for the reply. I think it was your camper build I was looking through actually. So is there a reason you sold and bought another?

Coincidentally, I am pretty close by (lakewood). If you would ever be willing to show a stranger your camper I would love to see one in person.

Yep, family space and fitting a pack n play inside with a buildout. New camper is a tundra with a 6.5' bed. Over 1.5' longer and about 10" wider. The interior of the double cab tundra has more space than the double cab tacoma also.

    Just a couple
I’ve had my Ovrlnd for about a year. Love it. No issues, I do use the aluminum anti rust on the exposed aluminum about once every three months. I am going to sell, but it isn’t because of not enjoying it. Going to use the cash to help my daughter pay for college. 0A1C32E4-025D-44F5-B68F-C93428DADE69.jpg

Just picked up an OVRLND last Friday. Looking at the build quality of my camper, I can say that it is very good. Welds look good, everything feels very solid, all seams line up, aluminum trim lines up. I'd been researching campers for a couple of years before I pulled the trigger on the OVRLND these are some of the reasons I went with OVRLND over FWC:

    1. My camper is built for my truck. Are the project M's built custom for a single truck?

    2. Endless customization by OVRLND- barn doors, flip-up hatches, flip-down hatches, extra bedding height, internal counters, different types of windows the list goes on and on. If you can dream it, Jay and crew might be able to do it. Call FWC and ask about customizing the project M beyond what they offer, I am curious about what they will say.

    3. I belong to both the project M group on Facebook as well as the OVRLND group on FB. I've read many positive reviews about project M and many positive reviews about the OVRLND. I talked to people who love both. I can personally attest the the great customer service of OVRLND, have read quite a few folks say that dealing w/ FWC can be a challenge at times- not everyone, but enough to give me a bit of a pause. We are talking about a big manufacturer vs a family-run shop with a crew of dedicated folks, most have OVRLND campers on their trucks sitting outside the shop. If you want more positive reviews of the OVRLND, get on expedition portal, there is a 45+ page thread about OVRLND campers.

    4. The shelf in the project M was a big turn-off for me. Some love it, but I felt it would take up valuable space inside my camper and I would need to build around it. Not for me.

    5. OVRLND has a free camper install, FWC's is $795.

As far as the company being relatively young, they are compared with FWC, but FWC just released project M a few years ago, I believe it was after OVRLND started making pop-up toppers. My camper is #794 from OVRLND, that is a lot of campers to get things dialed in.

I felt like I picked the camper that suited me, I'm happy with it. I feel the build quality is good. Currently having fun building it out and looking forward to some extended adventures. If this changes, I'll be the first to admit it but I feel like if I have an issue, I can get Jay on the phone and he will get it fixed.

I have nothing against FWC, I have a friend who has a swift on his Taco and he loves it. The thing looks pretty sweet.

I'd recommend you get on FB and join both the PM group and the OVRLND group if you havent already. Do some digging.

Maybe check out youtube, I just watched this one a couple of weeks ago and was a bit shocked by the build quality:

I’ve had my OvrLnd since Nov 2021. I have probably 25K+ miles and lots of offroad adventures. Everything is still very solid and tight. Jay and team are great to work with. I did tons of research and talked with lots of people with campers before pulling the trigger. I would 100% recommend OvrLnd.
