does this look fairly close? ... it seems to be what matches on tailgate
should it be made longer than 17"

Damn that looks good; I think the italics on the "A"s look a bit too aggressive (too wide)...other than that it's damn near the same.

i checked out my tailgate decals and the "A's" are a bit peculiarly wide
aggressive is a good description lol, the old Tacoma ads from the mid 90s pushed this new breed of compact trucks as 'aggressive' compared to the Rangers and S10s

    DISREGARD.

I was talking about the emblem, not the decal.

    Carry on :crapstorm:

the TOYOTA font is a slightly modified Avenir95 font (the stem of the Y is slighly shorter on the toyota decal)

but the TACOMA font is most likely a custom font. It was also used on late 90s - early 00s toyota cars (corolla, camry, echo, avalon)

    Why not T6 Titanium?

    Lighter, stronger, doesn't oxidize.

well this Line-X job was not what I was expecting
not even a week later and it developed a large baseball size (circumference) bubble
i wonder what the fix for that is going to be?

I had already made an appointment to have the tailgate area modified so the gate will close and open easier as before (too much friction going on there)
... not quite sure what he's gonna tell me about the big bubble ... its normal in the heat and humidity?

That sucks. Did you look up reviews on him? Sometimes people have to travel a bit and pay a little extra for known good quality.

i had met with him about a half dozen times in person to get the right application (his shop is nearly 25 miles away in the next town), he seemed pretty confident about his work but hadn't really ever seen an old Toyota truck (they only have a chevy and ford dealer in this town where he gets most of his business) but that should not matter if the surface was prepared properly?

Dude, lame. No. That's not normal at all. You paid a pretty penny for that Line-X. Take it back and demand a re-do. Sounds like he didn't prep the surface properly.

It sounds like you were already unhappy with the application since the tailgate was hard to close. That's also not normal.

If he resists, or doesn't want to fix it properly, contact Line-X directly and let them know they have a guy that sucks applying their product. They'll get you sorted out.

thanks, I cannot see him resisting to fix it, the bubble could also be why the gate is not closing easily as it popped up near the end where the two meet

not a current pic of the bubble, just what the bed surface looked like under the plastic liner that was supposed to be sanded/prepped before the spray
all that was under there was some spotty surface oxidation happening, no perforations (which would explain a bubble popping up?)
