Can't go wrong with Viper. Always wanted remote start but when my truck got broken into I decided to just get a new alarm with touch screen. Remote start, auto locks, if its started and the door opens then all doors unlock. I love the remote start especially in the dessert, cold as balls during winter and hot as hell during day. Plus if someone tampers with the truck the vibrations will set the alarm off. I love it! Think I got it for around $400-$450. Well worth it to me since I already had a $500 stereo stolen, my ipod, gym bag with equipment, my sweat rag from the gym, headphones that are in the ear kind and 3 years old so full up ear wax, tie downs, jumper cables, hell they even stole my last 3 pieces of gum!

Nice! I want to upgrade to the phone app but don't wanna spend $200 on the part needed for the app. By the way, still scared to do the gaugle led's... :(

I have the Viper 5704 on my 2012. Works great. I've had 3 different Viper remote start alarms now in 3 different vehicles. Never any issues.

Yea it's basically the same alarm. I actually asked for the 5901 and the installer showed up with this saying its just the newer version of the 5901

    Another satisfied Viper owner.

    I have this one.

I paid $499 for the install, which I'm sure was a bit high, but given that it was a relatively reputable shop, I have no complaints.

It's so key to be sitting inside my cube at work, hit it and know it's started. Plus, I never liked the fact the Tacoma didn't come with an alarm for the factory. Seriously, a 30K truck and no alarm?

I thought the Tacoma's DID have a factory anti-theft system. It's not on par with the VIPER alarms, but there's something there. Otherwise my truck blinks for no apparent reason.

Are any of these systems plug and play? Or would it require someone installing for me? About all I know how to do on vehicles is change the oil and spark plugs lol
