    What did you do to delete the upper cat? Gut it? Also the 420 code has nothing to do with 4low according to @Speedytech7 :duh::p

    I wasn't sure if the first sensor was before the first cat or between the two.

    Roger. I also am in an internal battle of cheap vs shiny new and not worrying about it for another 20 years. The cracked in half muffler has me wanting to fix shit and have clean new fasteners and pipe.

    Nice muffler like big stockish style or borla/gibson etc? I want maintenance free, leak free, etc. I see a cat back style exhaust on rock auto for like 150 that I can cut up and still exit out the bed. I'll poke around the cats and see what's up. When I tackle shit on this truck I want to do it once and right at this point.

    It's true, I can take a picture of what a Toyota drive cycle consists of per their engine control logic manual. Not my fault you guys can only seem to satisfy the conditions when your vehicle is in its least efficient gearset. :p

    @cynicalrider

    Straight from the big book itself...

    The drive cycles are slightly different depending on the year of the tacoma since they changed sensor types in 01 so here are both of them. If you follow them to the tee you'll set off your CEL each time if your CAT is truely bad, if it doesn't go off every time the CAT condition is marginal but on its way out

    Totally removed it.

    Installed DT headers and found the location of the A/F sensor and the collector flange forced a modification of the exhaust before the upstream cat. So we deleted the cat and built a interim pipe to fill the space. It also helps that Wa State rules changed about the same time and eliminated the need to pass emissions testing. :p

    Went with Magnaflow, then chopped it right before the axle bend. Nice and tight out of the way for rocks. Stainless steel tubing to last east coast rusty winter.

    I do recommend if you get the sensor, hollow both cats out, get a brand new oe upstream sensor and get a new maf sensor all at the same time and let the computer learn and it will run great.

    No problems with the URD sim and I've had it about 6-7yrs nows.

    Yeah not sure I ever can make it do that lol. Not enough road here to drive those speeds for that time consistently.

    Ah so custom built, nothing I can just buy?

    Atlas case right?

    I do have a brand new Denso sensor up front. Honestly might just replace them, they are cheap enough. I'll look under there later today and check their conditions.

    Anyone install upgraded halogens and upgraded headlamp wiring? I may try this today so I’m wondering where you installed the relay block. Pics would be nice.

    You can get pre-bent pipe sections in whatever diameter you want from summit racing, a couple of flanges to match, and just piece it together on the truck and weld it up. You may have to add a bung for the A/F sensor if you replace that section, which is also pretty simple.
    In racing they call it a test pipe, and no exhaust shop will make one for you unless they install it on a track only vehicle.
