We've had multiple sets of Michelins on various vehicles over the years (although I'm running Toyo AT III on the Tacoma). I cannot recall any that took a lot of weight to balance even on some pretty hefty wheels. Is that only on one wheel? It's possible there's an issue with the wheel and you could try having them move the offending tire to another wheel and see how it goes. But if the problem follows the tire, and if your old tire(s) didn't require that much weight, I'd say that it's a manufacturer defect. It happens. That's what warranties are for. If you bought them from Discount Tire they'll replace it no questions asked. If not, I'd press the seller for a replacement under warranty.

    My $.02.

285/75/r16 Nitto Trail Grappler M/T’s, Extang 2.0 hard tonneau tri-fold. Billstein 5100’s front/rear with OME 886 coils and Headstrong off-road 3 leaf progressive AAL. All speakers replaced with Kicker CS Series. BulletPoint Taco Bar with stubby CB mic holder and two-way FRS/GMRS radio holder. Uniden PRO505XL 40 ch CB. RCI engine and transmission skid plates. RCI sliders. Garmin Mini Dash Cam 2. CMC by Milogen Fabrication.
Thanks! I’m just running Billstein 5100’s with OME 886 coils set at zero. Haven’t done the CMC yet. The viper cut eliminated the rubbing at the front but I still hear some rubbing at the rear of the fender at full lock or close to it when the suspension is compressed. Might need to pound back the pinch weld. Probably going to change out the UCA’s soon which should be a big improvement overall. Don’t have any other pics at the moment. I will try to get some this weekend and I’ll post them then.

I actually got call from my agency this afternoon. My auto insurance renewed last week for 6 months. The agent noted the raise in our premium and stated it is due to some sort of raise permitted from the state, whatever that means.

How did you do on the sale of your DB? As much as I like mine, every time I see a Alu-Cab I get to thinking.

I use 40lb bags of softener salt just in case I need to melt something. Also throw 2 in the trunk of my 07 Corolla and I feel like an indestructible tank.

That’s legal-speak for: We’re the insurance company. We -never- lose. Here’s your share of the claims we paid. The state won’t let us stick you with the whole bill all at once, so see ya again in another six months.

My previous insurance company (Allstate) kept raising my home and auto rates and they kept saying that there was nothing they could do. They "did everything they could" to get/keep my rates low. So I contacted another insurance company, got a MUCH better rate with much better coverage and called Allstate to cancel. You're not going to believe this but they miraculously found a way to save me more money on my home and auto on that very phone call! "I've been working on this since you last called. I wish you'd have waited I was just about to call you."

Call around. You'll find a better rate. I called a BUNCH of insurance companies and several were cheaper for the exact same coverage.

Had the 3-season tires (Toyo MT) removed and my “winters”
    (Toyo M-55) installed.

The M-55s should have been studded, but I needed to use them in the early summer, and by the time the MTs arrived, I had too many kms on them to stud. Still, they do have the TPMS logo, and are “OK” on snow and ice.

Going from a 33.5” OD to 32.0” so it is slightly peppier; will try to compare actual fuel consumption over the next week or so since conditions and driving should be similar to the past month.

Glad you found better coverage with a lower premium.

Can I ask who you went with? Just trying to narrow things down.

    TIA!

State Farm. I know I've explained this on TW before but I spoke to the local body shop and asked them who the best and worst insurance companies to deal with were. They said State Farm, no question. They were the only insurance company that didn't 2nd guess everything they did and had zero problem using OEM parts. ALL other insurance companies only approved OEM parts when aftermarket weren't available and some were unreasonable to work with.

Allstate while using their stupid app that spies on your driving to lower rates was higher than State Farm without using their stupid spy app.

Insurance costs keep increasing. One thing to consider, that has worked for us, is to change from staying with a specific carrier to using an insurance broker (independent). Once you get one, they become your advocate and find the lowest rates for you a couple of months before insurance policy change is due. No fee for them and this has helped the sting of insurance costs for us. Never going back to a "well you get the grandfathered rate as long as you stay with us" bait again.

That’s good to know. I’ll have to get a quote from them. Definitely don’t need anyone spying on my driving habits (I drive like a grandpa). Just don’t like the way everyone is in everyone’s business these days.

    Thanks!

And the jagoffs driving without insurance. I recently read 13% drivers are driving without it in the US. Dung eaters all of them.
