Seems like I read that the plugs and wiring are different. I expect someone will eventually take the $30 gamble and try replacing one switch. I only drive access cabs and sometimes it seems access cabs are the red headed stepchild when it comes to some available mods.

Before anyone spends $800+ for a 2nd gen catback exhaust please read this.
Today I was replying to a post on FB to someone looking for a 2nd gen catback exhaust. I had an awesome Gibson exhaust on my 3rd gen and loved the sound. A little deeper throatier sound than the TRD people were buying. I started pricing one for my 2nd gen and found one that is ridiculously cheap. On the Gibson, and most other, sites they are around $900 just like Borla and other brands. For some reason you can get one for Tacoma 4.0 2005-2013 for $363 shipped (using coupon "TENOFF") at distantxtremes.com and they still have a lifetime warranty. To me that is a killer price. That is the aluminized version (no rust issues where I live). My truck has low miles and no exhaust issues so I can't justify buying an exhaust yet.

My son always asks me if he should be worried with nearly 185k miles on my old 2012 SR5 V6. Always the same answer "not as long as you keep up with maintenance" which he does religiously. His runs, rides, steers and performs like it has 90k miles on it.

I just recently rolled over 200k in my 09 Tacoma. was joking about now needing to scrap the truck. all that my truck needs is new front shocks, and ECGS bushing, and likely the valve cover gaskets replaced. when I did my plugs they were a little wet.

Did the ECGS bushing replacement today. I had a bad vibration and it would pull a bit to the right. I replaced the bearing and both seem to be fixed. I had watched so many vids and the actual replacement is as easy as the videos make it seem.

Not exactly today, but I recently finished making some of these. I had a pretty immediate need to be able to use the bed rails of my truck, but I didn't have time to wait for shipping.

    On the Bridgeport:

    And on the lathe:

    PXL_20240523_193217324.jpg

I used them to secure some quick anchors to strap a dishwasher in the bed of my truck. Worked like a charm! Big ol' 1/2-13 thread, 304 stainless steel. Probably overkill, but I had stuff on hand to make these.

    minor tweaks
Dropped the pan, changed the filter and cycled in 12qts of WS ATF.

I used the method where after the first drain and fill you pump it out of the transmission 2 qts at a time using one of the cooler lines and adding as you go. THe biggest PITA was messing with easily spilled bottles under the truck as you transfer the new fluid into the tranny. One of those systems where it uses a pressurized container to fill the transmission would have been really helpful. Now I need to go out and pressure wash the spilled ATF off the driveway.

That’s why you snake a long hose to a funnel in the engine bay and let gravity work for and not against you. For next time, perhaps :)

And (also for next time), that Toyota branded WS fluid is overpriced and nothing special. Just get this for roughly 1/2 the $:C68631A8-C80C-4E71-92F3-C74BE0F3D6FF.jpg

I second the long funnel method. so much easier and faster than pumping. I haven't tried the pressurized bottle method so can't speak to that.
