are you gonna do a post-install review for those of all curious what it's like

and if it solves the one issue about the 2nd gen: lack of power in stock form that doesn't keep up with traffic or move big tires (probably partly caused by gear ratio)

I wonder why folks pick the TRD one. Supposedly cheaper and more reliable than ProCharger. A bit less power. Seems to look cleaner.
Not sure what/if it changes anything regarding optimal gear ratio choice for diffs

Today was wire brush and fluid film day. A bit late in the season, but better late than never. The wire brush was barely needed, this frame is gonna last.

OTT tune update: I wanted to give a shout out to Marty Short (ATO Tuning LLC) for taking the time today to get my truck running the way I wanted it to. I got my truck tuned by him last fall and some shift patterns weren't working for me based on my driving style and preference. I have a 2nd Gen (2013 4.0) and originally had the "medium" flavored tune installed. Fortunately for me I only live an hour away from him, so today he re-flashed my ECU with the "Mild Sport" shift schedule based on his recommendation and that cleared up the issues I was having with downshifting and running through the gears too fast. I was skeptical about keeping this tune at first, but Marty made it work for me and I really appreciate that. He also hooked me up with this cool patch. I highly recommend OTT, they have a great tune and their customer service is top notch. 1f44d_b72ecffefb622ff6156b82661bec49291e44050f.png

Drive slow if you load like this. Especially for a shortbed. Tailgate’s not made to carry much weight. If it were you would’ve able to lift it off the hinges. It’s better to drop the gate and stack 2x’s up to the wheel wells and lay it all flat. Then use the tie downs to keep it down and the pile in the bed.

Whats your thoughts on JBA over SPC? Would you be willing to sell the spcs if you still have them?

    Same as everybody else...
Routine and somewhat unexciting maintenance done in the last week. Had the tires balanced and rotated, changed the engine oil (M1 HM full syn) and OEM filter, drained and filled the diff with 3 Qts Valvoline 75w-90 synthetic gear oil and swapped the PS fluid. Next up is the A/T drain and fill. 20240210_111156.jpg

Here is what I have done recently to my 2005 tacoma (original owner, getting very close to 200K miles):
    - Replaced rear diff oil
    - Replaced ATF
    - Replaced output shaft seal
    - Replaced valve cover gaskets. While I was in there also the PVC valve, intake gasket and throttle body gasket
    - Repainted the roof. It was showing early signs of peeling paint and rust
    - With the leftover paint, I painted the chrome portion of the front grill
    - Did some de badging on the tailgate
    - Plasti dipped all the emblems with a blue/black plastidip including the steering wheel emblem
    - Restored the headlights and fogs
    - Headlight upgrade with the harness to the 100/90W bulbs

My future plans are: to maybe paint the chrome bumper one day, will need new tires soon so maybe upgrade to the black 17 in TRD pro wheels, and maybe remove the running boards or get new ones.

I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times so for that I apologize.

What lift and size tires are you running?

I recently bought a 2014 DC that has what I believe to be 5100s w/285/70r17s and I'm wanting to do a proper lift along with new wheels/tires plus I plan on going with the C4 bumper that you have.

I did a forum search of your name along with IG. :)

Thank you so much, killer looking Taco! I've already done a few things but once I sell my 911, this Tacoma will be my play toy.
