The secondary air pump just adds an additional airstream into the exhaust manifold to help create cleaner emissions. But, the sponge filter can start to fall apart over time so I switched it out. My truck is 8 years old and I’m just trying to make it last for eternity.

That little grey filter sits over an impeller inside the housing. Over time it can become brittle and start breaking apart. Replacing it with the external filter will prevent those little pieces from falling down into the impeller and causing damage.

Yep. The first one I bought was $12. I'm too lazy to clean and reuse them, so I buy a new one every year in January.

Check your vin for recalls. Toyota replaced several of the components including the filter for free on the 2012.

I relocated the SAE plug for my diesel heater from the bed to the bumper because it makes more sense for it to be here.

Washed and ceramic coated. Swapped the wiper blades as the last ones were totally wrecked. Also fitted my tailgate pad.

Just rolled over 154,755 miles so I decided to give the old girl a spa day. Wet sanded & compounded the headlights, detailed the engine, applied CRC corrosion inhibitor to the frame & gave her a bath followed by some good SPF for her skin (ReJex wax)A0A7712C-FB8A-4D35-AE34-25EBE0823C3C.jpg D216FBB4-13AB-4A77-89FC-0AE1DD762AA2.jpg 14C63038-A9CC-45CC-BF51-E175FA77080B.jpg DEDF6280-8081-4CF3-A424-1BF85E964136.jpg

I’ve always used Formula 88 but never got the result that I wanted so I went to my local AutoZone and picked up this engine foam degreaser that I heard good things about. I’ll message you when I remember the name but I did that, (essentially sprayed the entire engine, minus connectors, and battery, liberally over the entire motor and bay area, let it sit for about 10 minutes and sprayed everything off. I put an industrial fan over the motor to let it dry a bit quicker, and the same company sells a product that is, a sealant, I guess you could say. Very happy with the outcome. I used a couple of small paint brushes, and a toothbrush to get in some of the tighter areas but it didn’t take more than 30 minutes start to finish.

Gonna need the name of the engine cleaner as well. The engine is the one part of the truck I neglect cleaning the most. Raining on and off lately hasn't helped keep my truck clean either.

ive used Simple green for years to keep the under hood clean.

heck my AFE intake filter i usually soak in a simple green/ water mix. and an cheap toothbrush, then rinse it with clean water. and let it dry while the other air filter goes in.

That's usually my go to as well. My engine bay doesnt have to be showroom clean but at clean enough to see/catch issues that would come up as small oil leak and what not.

I during the summers end up out in the desert areas around central Oregon, and that weird mud/sand mix is like a weird glue I've still some on my cats. they are orange but spray simple grean all over, let it sit a bit and just hose it off, does wonders.

heck my profile pic is from a trip last year in June! still knock some of that sand/ clay mixture off the truck every so often.

Last night I finally got my front Fox 2.5s mounted up. Took 2 weeks of waiting for parts and now I am getting it aligned tonight and I hope it is good to go. I still need to check all the clearances and make sure there isn't any binding. Also replaced my SPC UCA ball joins that blew out. There might be a little to much preload on them so I might need to sort that out later on. I need to add trans fluid tonight and make sure there is enough after my I installed a second trans cooler. I'll get some pictures after its aligned for all you pic junkies.
