Have ToyTec Boss 2.5 and after 30K miles they are still harsh with bumps. Just curious what would happen if I released some nitrogen.

    No no no no no
That is not the answer, the nitrogen is at a pre-determined pressure. If you let any out it’ll mess up the balance between the oil and piston and could cause problems like bottoming out too hard or perpetuate shock fading and cavitation. That will damage things in a bad way.

    Valving is where it’s at.
The Toytec Boss 2.5 is rebuildable, so you can have the valving changed to solve your problem.

The nitrogen is not what is causes the shock’s damping effect; the oil is. The nitrogen is there to prevent air bubbles from forming in the oil. The only way to adjust the damping is adjusting the valving.

It doesn’t make sense to me that a shock would get stiffer with age. Your problem may be elsewhere.

No problem! My suspension choices bit me in the butt and I’m working to fix all that so I have been studying a lot. Makes me want to work in a suspension shop now .

On a side note, I grew up outside of Cincinnati. Miss the heck out of that area.

That’s a nice area. I was a bit farther away, outside Wilmington.

It's very common to think adjusting nitrogen pressure will soften up the ride, so you're not alone on that one. Glad TW was able to help you out
