What brand/model of floor jack should I buy? I've been reading that the craftsman are not that good anymore. They new ones are junk, leak oil, etc. I want to lift my Tacoma for regular tire rotation and anything else, with my wife's car.

    This one?

I bought one from NAPA. This is one of those things you really don't need to over think. 2.5 - 3 tons is good enough. Get a set of jack stands.

I suggest a 2.5 to 3 ton jack. Im happy with my harbor freight unit but COSTCO has a rather good one rated at 3 ton

The HF Jack is exactly what you should get.

Ive gone thru 3 craftsmen jacks and 2 Napa jacks in the last 25 years.

You can't beat the HF warrantee.

Harbor freight. Make sure you get a bottle of jack oil and top it off as well as bleed it before using it. This will ensure longevity. Make sure you use safety and get a set of jack stands and wheel chocks as well.

I had a Craftsman 3.5 ton for many years and it finally did stop lifting but not after getting our money's worth. Just picked up a new Craftsman jack, two jackstands, and creeper for $110 on sale. If it fails I can walk back into Sears and get another.

Hopefully the Sears is still open.

Around here they are closing all the time. I love my craftsman tools, but have excepted the fact that they are circling the drain.

You won't find a long reach Jack for less than $700. Might as well save for a lift.

    Lift=car hoist, not suspension lift.

I love my Costco low profile jack. Just barely works on the taco, but for the wife's Camry and side jobs, perfect.

I have a harbor freight 2.5 ton "aluminum racing jack" that works well. Have used it multiple times on my 2007 pre-runner and it works just fine... Reasonably lightweight for 2.5 tons, and also reasonably fast...

I think it was in the 130-150 range on one of their many sales...

I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing.

I've been wrong before, it's not a big deal.

For you guys that say your floor jack is barely getting the truck lifted with larger tires, where are you jacking the truck from the frame?

I always jack from the rear axle or the lower control arm.

Regardless, if a person is gonna wrench on their truck on a regular basis, think about a car hoist.

I paid $2300 for a brand new lift, a bout the same as a set of tires and wheels, high end, of course.

You will not get younger, but will still like working on your truck. Might as well preserve you r back and knees as long as possible.

Basically, this is the only floor Jack you should be considering.

They have low lift height hosts.

    Max Jack is one brand.
