    My 95 Tacoma (95.5) 4x4 has the 2.7 4-cylinder engine, 5-speed manual.

    I think the engine was a 3Z???
I wiped a bit of grease off the valve cover with “ carb cleaner “ and it immediately cleaned off the writing on the bar code sticker... Doh!

anyway, What transmission do I have?
    W59? R100?

same for which transfer case ?

    the truck is all original.

    thanks.

    No parts needed... I hope...

just wanted to know the model of the trans, etc. for when ordering parts AND when reading/searching posts.

My VIN, per Toyota Owners website ( official Toyota website?) only lists the engine as 4 cyl and trans as 5MT...

trucks drivetrain is completely original, unmodified, I think even the original clutch. Well, brake pads and tires changed and shocks replaced with Bilsteins, and a stereo upgrade. My brother was the original owner, and I now inherited it from him.

    It’s the 4x4, so it’s the 2.7L engine. I recall the engine designation is “3RZ”. I think the 2.4L (2x4) starts with a “2RZ” and the V6 starts with “5VZ”... sound correct?

as for the R100 I mentioned previously, I meant R150, as I was going from memory of other posts talking about the transmissions.

I did see Gearcrunchers post about transfer cases (after searching), but don’t recall seeing a breakdown by year/engine size.

    Thanks everyone.

    so

    3RZ
    W59
    Aisin VF2

    sound right?

Use your vin # to identify what you have .
1995 was the last year of that generation and yours is a half year meaning it could have parts from a 1996

I had a look this morning without using your vin# and received mixed results

??? Confused... last year if THAT generation?

This is the first year/first generation Tacoma.

I see some people do say 95.5, and it was built in March of 1995, but it’s a 1995 “Tacoma”. And not the previous Toyota Pickup (Hilux?). There was no 94 Tacoma.

I did note in the original post “my 95 Tacoma(95.5)” because some people seem to use that description.

The Vin just indicates it’s a 5 speed manual, but not which 5 speed manual.

even the info from Toyota and other sources note it as a 1995 vehicle, not a 1995.5, but they all have 1995 as the first year of the “Tacoma”...

the VIN tag only has the date of manufacture as 03/95.

I just noticed that the VIN tag lists W59 along the bottom, along with a few other codes, so I guess the trans is a W59.

    thanks,

knowing (per the vin tag) that I have the W59, I check the Wikipedia link, but it states used with the 2Z engine... although it does say 2x4 and 4x4... and I know internet pages are notoriously unreliable... makes it more confusing.

    thanks

    thanks

Funny, the color code and interior code don’t seem to match my tag... unless there are multiple codes...
