Hold the button for 3 seconds and it will turn on a light on your dash. It disables the side curtain airbags

I had a friend who rolled a 2007 FJCruiser onto it's side (while doing doughnuts) and no Air Bags deployed! The FJC would have went all the way over, but he had an extra Roof Rack on top of the OME Roof Rack and that was just enough to prevent his complete roll-over.

I also have a 2007 FJC with "Side Air Bags", but I have no RSCA Button. And I have had my FJC at some pretty steep angles also and nothing happened! (Knocking on wood! lol)

The 2012 4x4 Tacoma Manual also states that the "RSCA" button allows the Seat Belts to be easily unbuckled while the vehicle is stopped on a extreme angle! This makes it easy for the occupants to leave the vehicle.

Something that I have had problems with our FJC many times. It can be a real pain to get out of our FJC when we are stopped on steep angles, because we can't unbuckle our seat belts (with the Pre-tensioner locked)! So I wish our FJC had this option!

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if the 3rd Gens have this feature too?

My 5-lug RC, as in the least likely Tacoma to go off-roading in, has this feature!

    I take that back...

I aware of some TW members who have modified their 5-lug Tacos for light off-road use. I guess I should say that a stock 5-lug is the least likely Tacoma anyone would take off-roading!

    To many, but never done
Your side curtain airbags will not go off unless you're doing a certain speed, not sure what it is, but offroading with it still enabled even if you flip it won't set them off unless you're going that certain speed.

I know this post is 8 years old, but I have to say thank you so much for this. It was kind of freaking me out that this button wasn't working on the truck I just bought. I just wasn't holding it in long enough. I timed it. Takes 2 seconds.

Turns off roll deployment at 30° ish. You know. Your truck is so smart it thinks you are rolling and deploys curtain airbags if your truck longitudinal angles over 30° ish. I'm not certain... But it doesn't pop your bags like some dude said on page 1. It also does other stuff like pfm. You know... Pure fucking magic...
