I was talking to a guy I bought good oem headlights from as he replaced them with some sort of halo light junk. He even said the oem was brighter. So I started wondering how little one could live with and how it could be an attribute. So here is my list, feel free to add more, what do you like about your base reg cab model?

    1) Easy to spray wash at the carwash, underneath

    2) No chrome, I hate chrome

    3) Rust on wheels tells you how much salt truck has been exposed to and wether to buy or not

    4) Muffler is simple and one set of headers

    5) 800 pounds (might be wrong about that) lighter than accesses cab, better mpg and enough power

    6) Short wheel base awesome for off roading and short turning radius, shortest of any vehicle Iv owned including cars

    7) Roll up windows work when power is off

    8) Keyed entry no one can hack your car and faster than fob in a way

    9) dont f*&^ with my mirrors

    10) Room in engine bay to work

    11) Less in general to break

Basically on their way to be collector items…. Another 20 years or so they will be the hot item at Barrett-Jackson.

i love my 5sp…. They literally dont make em like they use to.

I love my 2007 2.7l base Regular Cab Tacoma! I love the mileage. I love the handling. I love the dependability. I'm an older gentleman (well, I'm an older guy anyway), and I need a manual transmission, and I can't abide automatic thises and thatses. I am hoping that this truck lasts as long as my ability to drive.

And I love the color - Impulse Red Pearl, baby!

I enjoy the simplicity and how easy it is to get around offroad, not having to do 3 point turns around every other tree. Wheelbase is perfect as you mentioned as well.

I have a 97 automatic (i prefer auto) 4x4 and this is my dream vehicle, I travel in my hiroof shell and I sleep back ther, its reliable, nimble can fit anywhere and everyone knows the reg cab taco is the most capable offroader as far as tacomas go.

I have a 5th gen trd off road premium 4runner and my regular 5 speed is more enjoyable to drive. What I love about my truck, the drive train is very reliable, it's pretty rare and I think regular cabs are the best looking tacos

Those are some nice looking regular cabs, I love that red. The one with 35's is nuts. Also loved the cap and integrated door.
And just the ones no one did anything too.
Oh and to get a 1st gen with out rust, how is that possible? Yea this would be a good one to hold on in time it will be worth more. And yup they dont make them like this anymore, who makes stick.

The best things about my 2.7base regular cab is that it’s a V6 4.0 automatic access cab
    Love it

I didnt want this to be that kind of thread, this is just for people who have them its not a competition. Its not for trolls who are trying to make up for some deficiency in their life with a more powerful truck. Very much the contrary.

That really was the point of this post, people with small trucks dont have egos, less need for stuff. Do you find me going into the access cab forum and say a 2.7 is no, thats because Im over 18.

"The best things about my 2.7base regular cab is that it’s a V6 4.0 automatic access cab
    Love it"

    Wrong forum...

It is a shame that nowadays options to get a single cab are limited, and small trucks are nonexistent. What I’ve read is it’s because the manufacturer’s are after the family market and don’t care about businesses that need a truck because it’s a smaller market.

I had a 96 Nissan pu that suited my needs perfect. Destroyed by an old man who ran a red light. I miss it. And yes when I see your pictures, feel envious.

A little of this and a little of that.
I enjoy my 2013 Regular cab truck. I’m fortunate enough that I can buy any truck I choose, but I like the look, simplicity, and size of the regular cab truck.

IMG_20200820_193635_8.jpgI love my reg cab 4x4 manual! Coming from fullsize trucks (usually lifted), it's so much easier to load and unload without crawling in the bed. As I get older, I get more practical...I literally never needed a 3/4 or 1 ton truck to do what little hauling I need to do. I don't worry about 90's crackheads using a slim Jim to open my manual door locks because I think most of them are dead! The 5 speed is a built in theft deterrent as well. My poverty-edition Tacoma is perfect for me...good gas mileage, I can haul my Kawasaki Brute Force or a cord of firewood with ease. Other that a tonneau cover, sumo springs, aftermarket stereo, and a sprint booster, it is in stock form. Hope it lasts until manufacturers make a regular cab again.

When I had it the only things I liked was the gas mileage and that it would haul my hand tools around.

Actually the reason I wanted the simplest truck was my Nissan D21 Hardbody and it was rear ended. That and the little toyota 2wd truck I used to have. Were being sold stuff we dont need.

Simplicity..I'm usually a minimalist for vehicle purchases anyway, though having to upgrade to intermittent wipers was a tad surprising I can live without gadgets mostly.

As someone else said, quick to change temperature inside with smaller space. Nice feature in single digit weather as I currently exist within.

I'm a married guy with no kids, I don't need extra seats. Why pay for something I don't need, much less haul it around all the time.

Oh yeah mine is 2WD as well.

I just love the things that no one talks about because they are less when these are attributes. This is the best vehicle for rapid heating I'v ever had.

Oh here is a big one, I'v heard that since this truck is so light the rear end "pulls" above the snow, less need for locking diff (yes I want one). Thats if the quasi lsd works right, not being mud this might work.
