Well, 97 is my favorite year of the first gens. Why? Best looking front end, and it was the only year of that front end to have the 3.4 that likes boost (95.5-96 hates forced induction).

That’s fuuny you say that. The 97 is my favorite look as well. And for some reason this 3.4 feel stronger than my buddy Spencer’s 03 tacoma auto.It even sounds different.A lot deeper.I really like this thing. My dad would’ve sold me his 08 tacoma 4 dr trd with the 4.0 for 4 grand because I’m his son.It has 262 on his 08 and I honestly liked my 97 more.Feels really solid.

I’ve had a 81 and 87.And haven’t had a Toyota in 10 years.I ran a hardbody and pathfinder 3.0 for a while. Then I picked up this 97 that was very well taken care of.I was immediately impressed. It ran every bit as good as my 04 Silverado with the 4.3 L vortech manual.Im pretty comfortable with it.Just really need some feedback on one of these first gen Tacoma’s.160k on the engine everything is very clean underneath I think it should be good for a while?

Agreed! The old man who had it put brand new 235 all terrains on it so it’s gonna be a while cause they’re not half bad looking.I think maybe a nice leveling kit and 31x10.5 would look slick?

Check your gear oils, a lot of time they get overlooked, transfer case and diffs.
Also I didn't notice manual or automatic, don't power flush your automatic transmission. ..
    Cooling system flush. ..
Looks like a great truck to find, seems well maintained, should last you a long time.
If you offroad a lot, you might want to invest in some rock sliders to protect your investment, ask @Daria it's a good idea. ..
