Well, In addition to the usual tools and such, I do keep all that plus extra leather gloves, an electric chainsaw with extension cord (only for clearing trail blowdowns and firewood if going camping in mtns during winter), a PLB, altimeter, 2-meter and CB radio, Gerber folding tool, paper road and topo maps in addition to my iPad loaded with topo maps app, 1 set of extra warm clothing, (also a sleeping bag when winter driving), extra food and water, 1st aid kit I put together myself with emergency blankets and extra bandages (shock and bleeding trauma is #1 at auto accident scenes), extra old cellphone with charger (doesnt need subscription for 911 calls only), flashlights, road flares, triangle reflectors or magnetic blinky LED lights, and a reflectorized safety vest to wear if you have to be out anywhere near traffic.

 

Water bottles, MRE, fire extinguisher, first / stop the bleed aid kit, folding buck saw, hearing protection, jumper cables, towels, ARB tire deflator, 2x12 chunks for under the jack, plyers.

 

In my case it's also about what my wife keeps in "MY" Toyota.

Most items you’ll never notice since they’re tucked away but 45 is within arms reach. Also a small organizer with car care items, extra microfiber towels, flashlight and a spotlight.
