So there I was this morning at the drive thru at mcdonalds, scrounging for loose change under the seats so I can pay for my sausage egg mcmuffin, and I notice a few buttons I have never seen before on my 2020 Tacoma Sport and I got to thinking, what do they do ?

I've owned Toyota pickup trucks before they were called "Tacoma" (1990 & 1993), owned a 1st gen Tacoma and a second gen Tacoma and I don't recall seeing all these fancy bells and whistles on or beneath the dashboard.

    Now before you whipper snappers chime in with the silly comments just know that I am old and bent, long in the tooth, 25% hearing loss in both ears, eyesight is 20/60, and can't remember the last time I saw my penis because my beer gut blocks the view. I have no idea where the owners manuel is for this vehicle so a little help please;

Picture #1 - What is that button on the right just above the clutch pedal and what purpose ?

Picture #2 - I know the "clutch start pedal" has something to do with "crawl control" on automatic transmissions and I really could give a crap since I have a stick-shift transmission and the "auto light" button is for the bed cargo light but what is the "400W AC120V 100W button all about ?

Picture #3 - How do I turn off that little green light on the phone button located on the ceiling? It's driving me crazy.....

The clutch start cancel is only on manuals and has nothing to do with crawl control or automatic transmissions. Pressing it allows the truck to start without depressing the clutch pedal.

The auto button is not for bed lighting but turns the automatic high beam function on and off.

The 400W button controls power output to the 120v plug in the bed.

If the SOS light annoys you hit it with a dab of black paint off a q tip or a black sharpie. I don’t think there is a way to turn it off.

Never noticed the button in #1. Might be related to the TPMS syste

The clutch cancel allows you to start the truck with the clutch disengaged. I think it’s intended for taking off from a stop when rolling backwards is dangerous. I’ve never really used it. I use the e-brake method in those situations.

That green light never goes off AFAIK. It has no known use for me, but doesn’t bother me.

400W/100W is to turn on power to the ac plug (house style) in the passenger rear of the bed. Only works when the truck is on.

If the one that came with the truck has been lost, you can download a PDF from Toyota of the owner's manual that will explain these functions and more!

    1.Release your hood
2.reset tire pressure sensor. For example, when you change to a bigger tire, you’ll press and hold that button and it will set the tire pressure for the new tires.
3.Auto high beam for the headlights. It’s not for bed light. The bed light button is different.
    4. Plug in outlet. You have a selection of 100watt or 400w. Outlet is located on the right side of your bed. You can run up to 400W.
5.To start the truck without the clutch pedal depressed.I’m guessing it’s only on manual. Nothing to do with crawl.
    6. Assistance. If you get into an accident, it will call help for you. It’s on subscription. 1 year is free. After that you will pay for that service to work. You can’t turn that off. The green light indicates it’s working. If it bothers you, just tape that with electrical tape. You won’t see the light that way.

you can buy tape designed to cover up annoying dashboard lights at your local VW dealer. They also sell a sharpie version.

You press the auto high beam button when you desire to both confuse and enrage any motorist that might be nearby.

So true. I picked mine up at the dealer and immediately started a 2000 mile drive. The first night I was so pissed at the auto high beams, when I stopped I got the manual out and was glad to learn they can be turned off. Have not turned them back on since.

You talk about being old and you have "1st Cav" in your profile - it must have been the true 1st Cav with horses! lol
I've heard tales about those dickydo bellies. The ones that stick out farther than your dicky do. We Marines don't have that problem.

Too bad the manual is lost. That has the best info.

I wanted to comment about the clutch start button. You are a wee bit right about being able to use it for "crawl control" ... just NOT that factory installed system on automatics. *** But you can make use of it when needing to crawl-out-of-trouble in some situations. ***

You prolly know that electric motors provide a lot of torque. A lot! You can use your electric starter motor to drive you out of a hole (for example) by keeping the truck in gear, foot OFF the clutch, hitting this switch, and turning the key. (Better still would be hooking up a push button to the starter, bypassing the ignition, just so the engine never fires up). Anyway, that starter motor will drive you out at crawl speed from most anything, by making use of this "clutch start cancel" button.

If you need to start it by reaching in the window and turning the key (cuz you're working on it or such), just make sure the transmission is in neutral first!

    READ. THE. MANUAL.

If you have to ask what most of these do, you seriously need to read the manual.

Since your questions have each been answered several times, I can offer one suggestion that no one has touched.

If you really would like to see your penis...use a mirror. :angrygirl:

You don't have this option in your 2020? Maybe it just comes with the PRO?

My '17 has "grenade launcher". Earlier models are more primitive I suppose.

yes, I have clutch cancel button on my 2nd gen.

if i need to start the truck without climbing in the seat, i put the stick in neutral, push the cancel button and start. don't have to climb in the truck.
