Like most Tacoma owners I’m always checking out tires, which got me thinking about what brands are going to be subject to the upcoming 25 percent Tariffs? BF Goodrich has 3 plants in the US, Falken and Nitto only have 1 plant each, could be tough to keep up with demand. Mickey Thompson are made by Goodyear in Ohio.

Michelin and Goodyear have lots of Canadian production.

Rav4 and Lexus RX are Canadian, gonna hurt Toyota from both sides.

    All of them. All makes.
Any manufacturer that has out of country productions will be affected.
You wont see a 25% increase on “one” tire make/model.
You will disperse the 25% across all makes/models at a smaller price increase.

I don't think the tariff applies if you live in Canada. :canada:

You are right, it’s for any US company, tire shops bringing in tires from other countries

Any Cooper, Goodyear, Mickey Thompson, Kelly, and Mastercraft tire that would go on a Tacoma are made in the USA so those would not have a tariffs.

But those companies make tires that would be charged a tariff, so I'd imagine that they use that chance to charge more for all tires and not just the ones directly impacted. Because big business.

That is a good possibility. Kind of like oil and how the US produce more oil than ever in history but the oil price can go up because of a war in another country even though that country doesn't get oil from us.

Not how tarrifs work. If the US places tariffs on Canada we will see the price increases.

The thing that literally every other country in the world does and it works for them will not work for us and it will be a bad thing.

But Canada hasn't placed a tariff on tires made in the US and imported into Canada

Where do the materials that go into the tires come from? What about equipment used to make the tires? How about that 10,000 other misc things that are needed to make a plant run?

I think the worry is premature. The returning Prez isn't in office yet so the exec order establishing tariffs hasn't been signed. It might not happen. Canada, USA and Mexico have a free trade agreement. It's not exactly free trade treaty, but that's what it's called. Overturning a treaty isn't something that a Prez can do unilaterally. But a Prez can terminate an agreement.

There's a whole boondoggle related to "made in xx" content labeling. I've had Lexus F-Sport GX460 wheel center caps bought from Sewell Lexus that said "made in USA" on the bag, while the plastic cap has "China" molded on the inside. Probably a US plant painted the logo on the outside, added the wire spring clip, put it in a bag, then marked it up 800%. As most of the value was added to the product in the US, it's allowed to be labeled as made in the US.
