I had issues with my truck running rough and the Dealer determined it was faulty injectors after having the truck for 2 weeks.

    They replaced all 6 injectors.

I was told by the mechanic that he noticed deposits on the injectors and asked what brand of gas I was using and advised me to stop using it.

I have always used Costco Gas and was comfortable using it because they advertise it as Top Tier Gasoline.

So I am wondering what gas other TW members are using and if anyone else has had issues with Costco Gas.

Costco Gas is advertised as Top Tier Gasoline so I am a little skeptical that it can be the problem.

The truck has 28,000 kilometers on it.

I use Shell bronze when I am driving in the City. When towing or highway driving I use silver.

Costco is like Arco or Safeway or any other discount gas to me. I treat it like water. I use Chevron or Shell almost exclusively. I will take 76 as a backup. I wish we still had Texaco around these parts.

I had looked into this when i first got my truck and decided to stay away from brands such as costco, arco, mom and pop shops, and the post exchange gas. The gas comes mkre or less on the same level from the same areas, but the post additives the larger more recognized brands ie shell,chevron,76 ect are what seperates the regular unleaded from mom and pop shops and the slightly more expensive like 76. Honestly it came down to me knowing ill own this vehicle for more than 10 years so i bounce between 3 gas companies and it turns out for winter chevron is better in my area for fuel economy in the winter than shell. Not by much but some days its cheaper than others and both are recognized as having top tier and a decent history. Also been looking into a gas only credit card some places give 5 or 10 cents off plus i'd pay it off every month to avoid interest. Help offset some of the cost.

I try to strictly use shell. But if I’m on the road and can’t find a shell, I use chevron. You want to avoid discount gas stations like grocery gas stations or local ones. They essentially are the same as any gas, the difference lies in the addictive they add to clean the fuel system.

No need for premium since it won’t do anything to your vehicle unless you are towing. Some vehicles actually have a hard time burning premium since it requires higher flash/temperature points. If you want the same addictives/better, as premium just purchase fuel system fluid cleaners from an auto shop, but you normally won’t need those until your vehicle starts getting old and when it does, you only need to do it once a month or every other month for piece of mind.

Costco is just fine. Obvious it’s injector issues, not gas. As much as I commuted in my lifetime, and mostly always using Costco, I probably have 1/2 million miles on Costco gas. Zero issues.

Check out the GasBuddy app. Find the brand you like at the cheapest price in your area.

I never get gas at any gas station where tanker truck is filling their tanks. Don't want any sludge being stirred up going in my truck.

What kind of rough running are we talking about?
I haven’t put any other gas in the truck than Costco in the almost year and a half of owning it.
I don’t have a heavy foot, and the truck will knock like a motherfucker on light acceleration either after coasting, or climbing hills at about 1500-2k rpm.

I know slight knocking is a normal characteristic of the Atkinson, it even calls it out in the owners manual and tech info, so I’ve never bothered to bring it up. But every time it happens, i think like you have got to be fucking kidding me, why would anyone build a motor where this is normal.

We use nothing but 91-93 ethanol free gas and we never have issues with the truck searching for gears on Hills and we average 21 miles per gallon running 275 70 18s.... we buy in bulk and keep it up the house to fill all of our vehicles. Is DAMN cheap that way...

I think Costco gas may vary week to week. Ive noticed differences in my mpg calculations.
    I may be wrong though
