depends on what i'm listening to, but lately it's: treble +3, mid +5, bass +4, with a flat EQ on my phone/ iPod. for reference i listen to a lot of hard rock and metal.

forgot to mention that i upgraded to Kickers all the way around, but i used those settings with the stock speakers except bass was probably +3. the stock paper/ neodymium speakers had a surprising amount bass for what they looked like.

I thought it was pretty good but I always end up adding amps and speakers to my things . Then you truly get to hear how terrible things really are from the factory.

plenty of info in the audio section ;)

the radio is really the first reason i'm here. when i started looking into changing out my truck, the very first thing i researched was whether the 3rd gen would allow me to change the radio out. if it didn't i'd have a 2nd gen. and it's a good thing, because that factory radio, i couldn't tolerate for more than the first 2 weeks.

i'm a single din kind of guy, i ran through an entire gamut of touch screens about 12 years ago-- i had full-featured a car pc that ended up with 3 different iterations of screens from extremely cheap, extremely bright, to extremely custom. and then later tried a cheap $190 7" nav unit, which remains the only radio i've ever had stolen out of a vehicle. i'm much happier without the screen glare, fingerprints, or the appearance of a radio that has value.

all the radio kits insist on mounting single din's in the upper slot. by adding the filler radio in the top, i could put my real radio in the bottom slot like i wanted, where it's closer to where my hand wants to be. it's a sony 'something' radio being used as a placeholder on top, and a pioneer 80prs radio on the bottom running the show.

The stock stereo is so sharp it makes my ears bleed. I cannot wait to replace it all but it is not on the top of the list for the "hunting" truck I am building. :frusty:

yeah, that's a 3.5mm input jack. some radio's will also use that jack for an auto-tuning microphone, but it's main purpose is to be used as an auxiliary input.

    I keep my EQ Flat.
Music files i play are already EQ'd and that broad 3 band eq in the head unit isn't gonna fine tune anything.
Besides, my ears aren't what they used to be, not gonna hear any nuances anyways.
