What’s the big deal about LED dome and map lights?

Do people just like cooler running lights? Do they like to just leave them all on, all night, and not worry about the battery? Super bright? What’s the deal? To each their own but I prefer incandescent bulbs on the interior...

In my opinion it makes the car look cleaner versus that halogen yellow look.

Guess it’s just preference then. I was starting to wonder if there was some new fetish with impedance or something.

I prefer incandescent lights too. I wish I could get rid of the LED backlight in the dash at night too. And replace with a dull orange glow.
But... I do have the Meso mods map and dome lights. They look awesome when they are off, and they are super useful for finding stuff in the truck at night.

I would never use LEDs for something I keep on all the time though. White LED is so harsh.

A little something every chance we get.
I just have replacements that make the cabin brighter when we get in or are looking for something. You want some good stuff, try ^^^^^^.
No, don't have it. Seen it all over. Good stuff.

I wouldn’t mind the option of a higher output, but since there’s no adjustment, I’d rather it not be too bright.

I have LEDs in my cab. All have been converted to LED. They give off a very good amount of light. I like everything to be lit up bright when I turn a light on (kinda the reason for turning a light on is too see). Incandescent to me is like working backwards. But like the OP said... " to each their own "

When I was younger the first thing I did when I got a new to me car was remove the dome light.

Sometimes you might need to get in or out of your car in a stealthy manner.

No worries of that now days, the factory lights are perfect for my needs. I have a small LED flashlight in the door pocket if I need more light.

With LEDs I can actually see inside the cab at night. Makes a huge difference loading and unloading or trying to find something in the dark

Maybe on new cars. Even on my 2000 Wrangler I had to take the dome light fuse out when I took the doors off.

Because when I camp the back seat becomes storage, and it's nice to not have to use a head lamp to locate items that are scattered in the rear. I also use my map lights at night...to read maps. The higher output LED lights make seeing smalls symbols more readable .

Now if I could only get one of those fancy domes that go from red to white light....cough @mesojdm

I have a standard dome light and LED in the maps, great combo as it isn't too bright for just opening/closing and when some light is needed. But when I need a good amount of light i have the maps to provide such. If I could find an LED that dimmed like stock I'd likely swap it too though... I have found some LED bulbs are too high kelvin temp, but if you search you can get a more natural kelvin.
