BG 44k really works, used it for many years at an independent repair facility. If you don't have access to, or want a cheaper version, Techron works really well too. Think of 44k as a cleaning at the dentist, and Techron as flossing at home. I work on a lot of older european cars with CIS injection- the injectors are purely mechanical and spray pattern is *really* critical for them. We pump techron through them at 200PSI and it really works. Other anecdotal evidence I have about techron is I live close to a race track. The night before a big race the German team running factory Porsches came into the local walmart and bought every single bottle of techron in the store. They won the race, and were later DQ'd for using a banned fuel additive. Proof->pudding?

    did they charge $250ish?
i think most of this charge is for 'tying up' one of the bays for more than an hour
suppose there is a way to replicate what they do for the DIY at home and not needing any specialized equipment

Some of the BG incliding clean MAF , transmission and coolant services must have their BG equipment, see a video sample on their web.. i have the itemized cost of each service at home , steering wheel fluid, brake , gear ..all oils etc etc was 900 out of door price and that’s because I got a 150 dollars coupon at that time.... I know  but oh well... I wanted synthetic all around so ..:spending:1A66104E-468B-40CC-A5CB-B06C45D15932.jpg

I got some rat gas on a road trip and my idle speed went south. The Techron Concentrate Plus took care of it pretty quick.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Always liked Seafoam, but probably wouldn't ever notice the difference between the brands without visually inspecting the injectors after each use.

I'm a believer in BG 44K now! After changing my timing belt I had my codes read and a P1135 code popped up. A few months later I did a full tune up: Changed the upstream AF sensor and the 1135 disappeared and turned into a 0420 code. I changed out the downstream o2 sensor and reset the ecu, 0420 popped up again. I then changed the air filter, cleaned the MAF, changed out all the spark plugs, and changed the oil. Still have the 0420 code. I searched all over Oahu looking for a place that carried BG products and found this small german car parts store that had the whole array. I bought a can of BG 44k Platinum and a can of EPR oil flush. I dumped the can of BG 44k into 6 gallons of gas and reset the ecu. I drove mild for one day then drove hard the next two days. 0420 code is yet to pop up for the past two weeks.

TL DR: BG 44k might have cured my P0420 code, it's the tits.

Edit: 0420 came back today. My cats are definitely toast. BG 44k may buy you enough time to emission test but not cure it.

Through all the years on auto forums it looks like the BG44 injector/fuel system cleaner and the Techron fuel system cleaner are the two that have stood the test of time, people have had good results over the years with them. They're the only two I can ever recommend to friends and family.

I'm not sure, I've never bought it before. I've only seen that it's been backed by actual credible sources, not 'my best friends cousin who has a uncle JimBob that told him (insert any injector cleaner/flavor of the year cleaner) is the best cause he saw it with his own two eyes on a sign at a Nascar event'....
I've only ever bought Techron, and usually at Costco in bulk lol, and I give it out to my family as gifts lololol possible less work I'll have to do down the road so help them by keeping their injectors clean :rofl:but if I ever suspected a dirty injector I'd try the BG44 stuff

i am still on the fence about this being used as 'preventative maintenance' or as a 'fix' to potential/possible dirty injectors
the shell station i frequent talks a very good game to me at the pump enticing me to fill up with the V-Power NiTRO+ to keep engine running 'like new'
    https://www.shell.us/motorist/shell...VUtyGCh3OyAPfEAAYASAAEgIQufD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
... trying to do a cost-benefit-analysis on using that fuel once in awhile or all the time vs. putting a can of BG44k platinum (or your suggested Techron) in the tank at regular intervals

i am pretty sure my avg MPG has gone down 2 or 3 MPG recently, but this may be due to the different sized tires i have now compared to the stock tires, or else the ages old fuel filter is causing this
    its perplexing!
