Helping my Dad sell his Tacoma. My folks recently moved to Birmingham from Iowa and just don’t use it.
Carvana was the best instant offer at $14k

    2010
    4.0L V6
    Auto
    4WD
    TRD OFF ROAD
    92k miles
    Everything is stock
    New tires

Everything works. Some frame rust but nothing more than usual for this age. My dad only took it to Toyota for service. He is the 2nd owner.

What does the collective wisdom of TW say this truck is worth?
Sorry I don’t have much more info as I’m trying to sell from another state and folks are technology averse.

Take it to Carmax and see what they’ll give you, they love Tacomas, and the fact that it’s still under 100,000 miles is a huge plus when selling used to a dealership. I’d wager they will offer you 15 maybe 15.5 for it, who knows maybe more, don’t hold your breath though…
Of course you can test the private seller market and ask for more, but that’s a waiting game and you’ll have to deal with people who claim to be interested but flake out.
pros and cons to both, depends on how quickly you want it gone.
Definitely take it to Carmax though and see what they’ll offer you, and make sure to wash it and detail the inside too, presentation is key.

Put all it’s info in kbb.com. It gives you 3 values. Trade in, pp resale, dealer retail. I haven’t used it in a long time so I’m not sure if it’s the same.

Sorry about the pics- car is dirty (again, aging folks who need help taking car of themselves)
Carmax offered $13k. Same with KBB. KBB private party listed $15k-$18k.
Local dealer said $16k but I’ll believe it when I see it. My folks don’t have the mental capacity to deal with car salesman so leaning towards Carvana off of $14k

IME the prices KBB shows are lower than what you'll actually get. Put $20K on it and advertise it, you can always come down. I wouldn't be surprised if you don't get some guys in a bidding war over $20K.

Taking advantage that Alabama doesn't require a front plate? Or since Alabama only gave him one plate, he only changed out the rear and didn't bother with the front.

KBB is useless for Tacoma's and 4Runners.

OP, it depends on the market. I'm in Cali and just picked up a 2006 AC 4.0L Auto TRD with 227K on the clock. The buyer and I settled on $10K and that was a great deal. To get an idea in your area just hop on Craigslist and see what people are asking for comparable rigs.

KBB has a feature where they work with local dealers and will give you a cash offer. See what they offer. I came really close to selling my truck back to a Toyota dealer thru KBB. I didn't do it because it takes like a month for everything to go thru to get your money. That was the only downside to that for me.

No pictures of said frame rust; this site has taught me a lot when people are trying to describe shit - "some rust" translates to "small holes" to "tons of rust" which sometimes translates to "surface rust with fully intact frame"

I'd side on the side of caution even with 96k miles as there have been cleaner vehicles posted (similar miles) with swiss cheese frames

Hope you get a good value on dads or grandpas truck, whoever it belongs to

Pretty common in states that only require plates on the rear. I collect expired tags from states I've visited. I put them on the front of our vehicles and swap them around from time to time. They issued a special Olympic tag when the Olympics were in Atlanta in 1996. I have 2 of those and one is currently on my Wife's car.

If it was an Alabama truck with no rust it would easily be $20-24k. Depending on rust level, that 14k offer may be a good idea. Anyone smart enough here will check where it came from and if its a northern rust state just ignore and keep looking, but you still get trusting suckers that don't know any better and will gladly pay without checking

Yes, my folks ended up selling to CarMax at $13k. Too many southerners afraid of rust apparently
