I am very happy to be a vendor here at Tacoma world. As many of you know I am a very new company and am excited to grow and interact with the Tacoma community.
Who are we: At Talons Garage we are a husband and wife team. We started working together about 3 months ago. I take care of the manufacturing and my wife helps with the packing and shipping. We are enjoying growing this company, and love offering a product that helps so many others.
Interest: I have always been interested in all things with a motor! Land sea and air, I have had an interest in all. I started wrenching at 16, after I got my first truck. The day after I bought my first truck, it broke down on me. Being a broke high school kid, I had no other option but to fix it myself. The necessity from that situation has launched itself into a lifelong hobby around automotive sports. I am currently also working on binging my wife into the hobby!

Our Product: We offer a catalytic converter protection plate for the 3rd gen Tacoma. We are also working on getting a 2nd gen plate in line. Our plate is made from ¼” Aluminum and so far, the thickest one on the market. We also offer true security bolts available as an upgrade. These bolts come with a proprietary bit that can only be sourced though me.
Not only do we offer ¼” aluminum to offer maximum protection, but we also designed our plate to also function as an off-road skid plate. We will also be offering a front skid plate and transfer case skid plate package coming soon, so watch out for it.

Shipping and lead time: We generally have the plates on the shelf ready to ship. We advertise a week turn around, but generally can get them out the door in 2-3 days.

Questions? Feel free to ask away!

    -Shaun and Crystal

I am interested in one of these, does this work with the TRD skid plate installed?

    Awesome!

You going to be on Tundras.com also? A lot of need for this as well there.

    Awesome lead times!

Glad to see you guys as a TW vendor. I got one of your plates a few weeks ago and am super happy with it. The plate is so light while being so stout, very cool.

Congrats on vendor status! I've been watching this particular Cat plate for a while now here on TW. I just pulled the trigger and look forward to installing it.

You'll be pleased with the results. Make sure to put the spacer up against the bar/frame.

If you have no skid plate that extends that far, you may need to add washers/spacers.

Yes, installing with TRD Pro skid plate. So I'll get the additional washers.

You may not need the washers...I had to use them because I didn't have a plate at all covering the open bolt holes.

This photo shows the openness and also the dip inward/upward of the space that probably compensate for any additional plates added. Since I don't have an additional plate, there's a gap.

Here's what I'm talking about...if you can see how it's just the Talon bolted on and nothing else.

Once I get a TRD Pro skid plate, this probably won't be an issue.

Roger. Wrong "washers" I was thinking of. I was thinking of the Talons Garage security screws, which I ordered too, and the YouTube vid recommended.

Yep I see it, I am going to look tonight on the install I did on a truck with no skid and see if I can tell what the difference between the two are. Great pics and information!

What are the specs on the hardware, anyone know? Or rather, where I can find the hardware specs for the trd skid and those bracer bar mounts.

To OP, interesting design as I was just looking at Cat Security today. I very much prefer your branding icon compared to all their branding. If the discount was 10-20% on a sale I'd be all in.

Sorry I have been MIA! I’m hoping to respond to everyone later tonight or in the morning in regards to the spacers.

I am not 100% sure on the TRD pro plate hardware, but the rest of the hardware is a JIS bolt that is M8 1.25X30mm long IIRC.

What year is your Tacoma? I have really only heard of one other person having this issue to date. It almost looks like you need two of the spacers on this truck VS the one I sent.

EDIT, looked at your profile and see it is a 2021. I need to try to find the other message and see what years his was too. Not sure if Toyota snuck in a slight change on the newest model.

One member mentioned the TRD Off Road comes with a thin skid plate that extends to the two bolt areas...I have a TRD Sport and as you can see from the photo, there is no plate extending that far.

In this photo I took of the underbelly of my 2021 TRD Sport, you can see the only plate I have is the one at the far-front by the Air Dam.

Here's the install showing the area I'm talking about. The spacers were corrected when I got home. (It still annoys me that I took that pic! Argh!!!)

when do you estimate the skid plate package to be available?
