Can anyone tell me the weight of a Leer 100xr cap. No fancy adds except headliner. I need to remove the cap to fix the leaking at the gaps at front rail, but will need to get some help if the cap is too heavy. My local installer is no help.

    Thanks 8n advance.

I can't give you an exact weight, but best guess is around 180 lbs. I wouldn't try to completely remove it by myself. 180 lbs isn't terribly heavy, but would be awkward.

About once per year I remove the clamps on mine and get inside and with my back against the top lift up slightly and move mine back 6-8". This gives me room to clean the front of the shell and back of the truck. I then move it back. Never had any issues doing this alone. You should be able to do the same to access the front bed rails.

It's pretty heavy, maybe a couple hundred pounds. I wouldn't try taking it off myself, it's too akward.

With all that weight, how much did it lowered your Tacoma?

I have a LB with a fully optioned out ARE with Martin off-road racks cap and cab, and about 50lbs constant gear and ended up installing sumo springs (612-40s) and I ride on them all the time so guessing 1” or more. Deavers expiation stage 2s are being built to match up with Eibach pro 2.0s coilovers and rear shocks. Definitely recommend something though. A friend has a LB sport with a Leer and was sagging and added Timbrens. These trucks don’t handle much weight without sagging on factory leafs.

I get one scrawny friend to help me take my cap on and off. It's not too heavy but you will hurt yourself trying to maneuver and lift something that large and awkward. No good way to really lift it yourself. Just get one guy to assist and you'll be good.

I went to junkyard and pulled 2 roof racks off 2 cars and mounted 1and used crossbars from the other to have 4. The corners will be used to lift the shell off all by my self. Just lift it up a couple inches and pull truck out from underneath. 80122BBB-1509-4EF3-AF50-F7D20A0111F0.jpg
