That looks like a shit-ton of work to mount an antenna. Reminds me of the time I had to remove the spare tire to work on my daughter’s sunroof.:rofl::thumbsup:

Just drill the hole and mount a good antenna in the center of the cab roof

Very interesting upgrade! Was curious what, if any antenna upgrades were available. Additionally, Bolton's "geek sheet" for this antenna is impressive, e.g., heat map & 3D spherical data. Wonder if Wilson offers a similar specification sheet for reference?

thanks. You'd have to contact Wilson and ask them.

I just bought one. Based on the reviews, you have to be near a tower for it to work.
where did you get the quick disconnect for the antenna?

From your experience with it is it boosting the phone signal from one bar to enough to actually making a call or text (3 bars)?

What about when the phone has no signal at all?

I’d rather hear from actually users than what they claim.

    How’s that mount?
It looks a lot like the caliraised and I heard they can flex and rub the paint.

I was going to mount my CB antenna that way until I saw posts about it flexing enough to rub the paint.

it came with the Blade antenna I bought from Bolton Technical.

in the area I've been in it's hard to say. Signal is already spotty there, but I was able to get some pics to upload to Facebook from Camp Bird Rd.

when the phone has no signal, it won't boost at all.

This is the one I bought.

Tacoma Tailgate Pods Mount CB Antenna Led Whip Light Mounting Bracket Flag Holder Compatible with 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma 2016+ Passenger Side https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B87ZCN7T

I wouldn't have had issues with mine if I had been paying better attention when I installed it. I put a dent/knick in mine but it was my fault. It has enough clearance. Just be careful when installing it and take your time. Maybe wad or fold some gauze up and stick between the corner and the mount while you're installing it.

You could probably put some rubber or foam material on the edge to protect the paint.

The whole point is you dont have to be as near the tower to get reception.

i consistently gain 1 more bar of signal when i turn on weboost.
but of course, when there is no signal, you cannot get anything as expected.

I got the WeBoost Overland and hooked it up for a test run when we went up to the Eastern Sierras a couple of weeks ago. I can say that in the couple of spots where we usually lose service, we kept connected. Have yet to try in a really out of the way place, but so far I'm liking it. So my question: currently I have the antennae attached to the roof tracks on my camper shell. I rotated the mount so that the antennae would fold over sideways. I see that most folks have these attached to a cab rack or similar then run the coax down the a-pillar trim and in through one of the grommets in the firewall.

With my temp setup, i've just got it in the back passenger door. I don't like this at all, and looking for a cleaner solution for the more permanent install. Any suggestions for another way in to the cab where the amplifier will be? is there any access spots near the rear of the cab? I got some grey vinyl cord cover that I can adhere to the camper shell and run down between the cab and the cap, but apart from running the coax from the antennae all the way under the cab and up through the firewall on the passenger side (which would be a pretty long run as it's doubling back to under the passenger seat) I can't really think of anything. Pics for reference.

Also, any suggestions for a "quick disconnect" for this setup? Would like to be able to remove the antennae when I'm not using it.

Maybe punch the top and drop the coax into the bed, then thread through the rear cab access point?

would like to avoid putting holes in the topper - but where is the rear cab access point?

I've been running mine for a year now using a ditch light bracket.
Running the wires was very easy, I went through the ac drain grommet in passenger side firewall. I have the control unit under my driver seat and the inside antenna mounted on the headliner center console.

looks good! This was my original idea - I got one of those hinge brackets, but the adjustable mount that came with my kit won't quite work with the bracket. I like the ease of access through that grommet on the passenger side though. My Kit came with hardware that mounted it to the tracks on my topper, so I went with that for now... I suppose I could forgo the adjustable mount and just hook it directly to the hinge bracket. Maybe with a quick disconnect so I can take off the antennae when I'm not using it. Doesn't seem like folding it over would do me much good if I mount it in front - might get in the way of the windshield wipers. Nice thing about putting it on the camper shell is that it's up way higher than the top of the truck. If there is another way in from the back that might work... or this might be the excuse I need to get a cab rack lol.

You could get this to hold your wire down to the topper and go in through the rear vent or run the wire under the cab to one of the grommets up front.

Noted. Wasn't sure if the rails were bolted through the topper or not... figured you could punch below the rails and seal with silicone.

Re the grommet: There is a rubber grommet located on the passenger side rear floorboard just to the rear of the seat bolt for the front seat. the grommet is just above the frame on the passenger side.
