2023 Taco Sport DC. Installed WeatherTech rain guards and the passenger side window has a little problem closing the whole way. Drivers is fine. Both installed and look the same. But it appears the rain guard, at the passengers side, rear of the window sticks too far out in the window channel and blocks it. Sometimes it causes the window to stop and not close the whole way. When it does it seems like it is not snug.

    Anyone have this experience? Suggestions?

This might be a crazy idea, but did you contact WeatherTech?

I've noticed this with in channel. Have since switched to AVS surface mount for this reason.

    No kidding

Thought I’d ask here first before going home and sitting on the phone on hold. Maybe somebody went thru the same.

I've had in-channel on my last two vehicles and will likely get a new set for my new Tacoma, which is inbound to my dealer currently. I've also tried adhesive bonded exterior mount and would not do that again. I've got Weathertechs on a Ram 4-door, and EGR on a Tacoma 2-door. The EGR are my choice of the three I've had at this point.

I have no issues with mine. I would take it off and reinstall it.

My wife's suv has Weathertech in channel rain guards. Sometimes passenger window will not close the top 4". I have to push the guard from the inside towards outside out all the way around as is seems to slip inwards every few months. That seems to work. Also closes better if window starts from a full open rather than partly open. Hope that helps. I have AVS in channels in my Taco with no issues.

I’ve had the AVS brand a few times and they work without issue. If you can, return those and save some money with AVS.

Ya thats pretty much the issue. Opening the window fully doesn’t make a difference. It’s kinda cold here now. Was thinking maybe the plastic was less flexible in cold but probably not. Its just one out of the four windows. I’ll get to calling WeatherTech soon.

You have to install them, get windows closed, and let sit closed for a few days. So weather strip can fourm the , Weathertechs. Best to get it out into sun. You mentioned cold there, that's why. Channels are tight.

Thanks! That's exactly what I was thinking at the moment, and that it may hopefuly mold it's way into fitting better. Unfortunately I don't think you and I will be seeing a lot of sun any time soon. So far, in 24 hours, it has not form fitted much better. Right now if I call WeatherTech I am number XX (dozens) in line and don't thave the patience to sit on hold. Xmas rush I guess.

Reading the original post again it's a little confusing.
It says "the passenger side window has a little problem closing"
Then it says "the rain guard at the drivers side rear of the window"
Regardsless if it's a new install the windows are not to be opened and closed but stay closed for at least 24 hours so the guards can seat/set. You don't say where you are and how "cold" it actually is. Even if there is no sun if you are using truck the heat from the heater should help. Just leave them closed like you were supposed to I would say.

Ya, sorry, edited that OP. It is only the front passengers side that has an issue. I didn't read anything about leaving the window shut for a while in instructions but figured on doing that. Someone mentioned clips. Only the rear windows came with clips. Rear window has no issues but the guard does not wrap down around the window like the front guards do. Rear window guards are only the straight piece of plastic across the top.
Temps have been 35-40 but going up this weekend to 45-50 with rain for at least 5 days which is really warm. Last year this time was a blizzard. Night temps go below freezing. Installed guards yesterday and it sat in the sun for 4 hours but it was only 39 degrees. This time of year the sun does squadoosh (solstice) and direct sun in the driveway is minimal. Parking at work is the best bet for a sun bath. Home parking is in the shed and I only drive 11 miles to work over hills, dodging deer. A longer trip might warm it up more but not in the cards over the next few days. We'll see if it form fits over time. Thanks!
