I just installed these in my 17 Tacoma, front is straightforward, but when I removed the rear set from the bag, it had metal clips and a molding tool.... Now, I do follow directions, but after 5 minutes, I just slid them in and it’s done, because the clips did not make sense, and it did not have the adhesive tapes as in the previous gen Tacoma. For anyone that have these, is this correct? or those darn metal clips are supposed to be installed somehow..., or they just put parts in the bag that’s not for this installation. I searched for videos for 3rd Gen rear visor install but cannot find any. Thanks in advance.

I had the same set as you and felt the same way. But you have to pull out the rubber weather lining on the top side of the door with that mini-crowbar looking thing that came with the set and then you slide the clips into the area between the rubber weather lining and the actual door.

Wow, wasn’t expecting a metal to metal contact, so the rubber lining is sandwiched by the Clip and the deflector? I’m assuming this replaced the adhesive tape and acts as a pressure clip. Thanks for explanation.

No problem! Btw, nice truck! I should've waited just a little longer for a pro but the bug bit me too hard so I ended up with an off road lol. Test drove a pro not too long ago and it felt like riding a trek down hill mountain bike while mine is a Walmart mongoose :p

There should be no metal to metal contact. The clip goes up into the window channel and the visor goes between it and the outer weather stripping. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0FAk4hV45k
I know it's for a silverado, but it's the same idea.

. I saw this video, the Tacoma weather stripping extends 1/2 inch up over the painted frame, therefore this clip does not fit like this video, do you have this installed on your truck?

I installed the clips as you suggested, not sure what it actually does, but I have no parts left. Thank you, I kept an eye out for a Cement Pro for nearly a year, and finally snagged this incoming one to a local dealership. Through such a long wait looking, I almost settled on a limited, but my son said, you’re not going to be happy, just keep waiting....now I have it and no regrets. Yes, the suspension is very nice, I don’t do much off roading, but it sops up imperfections on the roads quite nicely.

Yes I have these on my truck and the installation is the same as this video.

This is a cutaway profile view.
    Black is the rubber gasket.
    Blue is the metal clip.
    Red is the vent visor.
The clip shouldn't be touching any metal but it does touch the top of the glass when the window is all the way up.

I’ve got the same Weathertech’s on my 2018 DC. I did not do the clips and have not had any issues. However, those windows don’t go down much so not much chance of them coming loose I suppose. I’ve kept the clips just in case.

Thanks, that’s a lot of effort you went through ....I’ll keep studying it and see what I’m not seeing.

good luck...just order them from autoanything.com
For me its not worth it because shipping them to Hawaii is over a hundred dollars. for the continental 48 though, shipping is cheap

Lol thanks man. I’m Not trying to spend $60 for just one that I need though :/

I had my tint done and the guys didn’t put them back on correctly. I noticed one missing, and checked the others, and they were all installed wrong

Make sure you install the metal clips on the rear windows. You really need them as they apply pressure to the deflectors when the windows are down. I had the unfortunate luck when i installed them incorrectly and i didnt know both deflectors fell off while i was driving but luckily they flew into the cab instead of out on the freeway.

Man you’re lucky! I’ve had mine on for 2 years and I just got my windows tinted and those guys removed them and didn’t clip them back on right. Sucks, I really don’t want to spend $60 for just one. Looking for someone with the same issue looking to sell his set or one. :fingerscrossed:

Didn't even know the thing came with directions. Just used logic to install the clips. Clips are probably there to keep window from pulling down deflector when rolling down.
