I've got my weathertech window guards and I really want to put them in, but I read some where you should have your window tint done and let it sit for day or 2 before putting on the guards.

Can't get an appt for tint for week or 2 and it's going to be a rainy weekend so was hoping that wasn't ttue.

Should I wait to have my front windows tinted before installing weathertech low profile window guards?

Pop them in for now then pop them out when you get your tint done. If it makes you feel better, leave them out for a couple days after you get your tint. They just bend and pop in and out. Just make sure you clean the run channel good before you install them.

I had my windows tinted before I put mine on. However I have taken them off and reinstalled since. Its easy. Just peal off old 2way tape, clean window channels and wind guards with rubbing alcohol and apply new ( better3m) 2way tape. Done.

They pop out that easy? The adhesive doesn't get stuck inside?

If you have the in channel guards, they are held in by tension. All the weathertech ones I have seen are this way, unless you have the stick on kind that is held on by tape on the door itself.

Just be careful when taking them off. You can clean it off with rubbing alcohol. It's just 2way tape. I have the in channel ones though.

Yea they're the newer one your have to bend to get in. I guess your right I'm thinking of older ones that stick to the door that were a major mess t9 get off.

Yep, you can take them out before you get your tint done, then in a few days afterwards just reinstall them. No big deal.

I was wondering the same. I plan on tinting the windows all around and getting the Weathertech in channels. I am worried with the in channels installed when they raise up the freshly tinted windows, that it might mess them up towards the top. Then I worry if I put them on later (after tint) it will ruin it as well LOL. Can anyone chime in who has both??

No tint here so I can't comment on that part. Only thing I would advise, make sure you keep your run channel clean. I have noticed slight rubbing marks on the very top of the glass, but comes off with window cleaner. So I know its a tight fit (cause that's the way their designed) just keep everything clean for awhile and see how they do.

Guy at the truck store was trying to steer me away from the in channel AVS guards. Said the tolerances for the channel were made for the windows and that a lot of people have problems with the in channel ones binding. I have had the stick on ones on my old truck for 13 years 176K miles still with the original tape. I like the looks of the in channel but am now hesitant. Reading threads it seems to run both ways between problems and no problems.

I've had mine on since Nov. No issues except for the above mentioned rub marks. I just make sure I clean my windows when I start seeing the marks. I'm assuming its from road grim and such that gets stuck up and into the run channel.

I have the in-channel EGR's. The front are held on by tension but the rear is held on by adhesive. I have tint with mine, but it was on for a few months before I put the guards on. My recommendation would be to wait until you get your windows tinted, and then wait 5 days after that for it to really set. It's a tight squeeze with my windows rolled up, but so far no problems.

I've had The wades,AVS, and weather techs. I use AVS currently with no probs and I have tint. Have taken all of them off and reinstalled. You just have to let them seat for 2days when reinstalling. Weather techs are def best quality but AVS half the price and work just as good.

Just be careful, and don't put them in without the tape. I was going 55mph with all the windows down and had one of the back weathertech in-channels fly out, the adhesive must not have bonded. Luckily, I was in the middle of nowhere and got it picked up with no damage. Got some new 2 sided tape and havent had a problem since.

Yea I am just going to wait until I get the tint done to make it easier. No sense in me putting them and then taking back out if I'm going to be tinting in next week or two. If I was getting tint done for months it may be worth it.

    Thanks for input, everyone!

I had my weathertechs on for a few months before getting the windows tinted. I would recommend tinting first and then installing them or possibly waiting on the window tint. The rear visors do not just snap in, they do have double sided tape, and you need to run an alcohol wipe up in there to get good adhesion.
