Waterproof Truck Bag Suggestions

Currently in the market for a waterproof truck bag for when I travel with luggage with the family. I have a tonneau but as with almost all of them, they’re not 100% waterproof. So I’m looking for something to keep the luggage dry from the water that does seep in. Looking for suggestions or feedback on any truck bags you have owned.

 

Frontrunner Typhoon bag all day long. I ditched my Pelican case for these. When I’m not using them they collapse down for easy storage.

 

What size luggage?

For small stuff visit a scuba shop and peruse their dry gear bags.

For large stuff or multiple bags, contico suv boxes. I've used and abused mine in the 20+ years since buying them for a college field trip, never ever a drop inside. They make great rat-proof garage storage when not riding in the truck.

Three roller suitcases, a stroller, and tricycle for starters. Also Christmas presents for family that’s a 1,100 mile drive away. Basically at least 3/4 of the short bed.

 

Heavy duty contractor trash bags.

 

I've had good luck with an inexpensive hard-sided golf bag traveling case. Although, they look like they're discontinued.

 

Of course, the other method that I have used (and is tried and true) is the broke college kid procedure.

Take two hefty lawn and garden bags. Put the suitcase in one bag, turn it upside down, then put that in the second. If it gets wet you have bigger problems than the luggage, like worrying how to retrieve the truck from the lake.

Bonus, as people are unwrapping presents you look like a hero, already equipped to deal with one extended family's worth of paper and cardboard. I've done that too.

I have a dry bag from a company called Kanga. About 15 years old so don't know if they still exist. Fills my whole bed.
