    Hello All,

I'm about to replace a water pump on my 1997 Tacoma 2.4l 2WD automatic transmission truck.

I have searched the internet high and low, and sadly my Haynes manual does not list torque values for the water pump bolts. Would anyone here in the forums have access to look up the torque values and what I need to torque them to, so I don't over tighten the bolts?

Thanks so much in advance for your time and help! :)

Additionally, if there is a write up on how to do this on this site, that would be most helpful as well if anyone knows of one, but if not, I'm thinking I will get it figured out.

Great, that was just the information I was looking for. To save someone else the trouble of having to look for it, for the 2RZ-FE and 3RZ-FE engines, the torque specifications are as follows from the FSM:

    Water pump x Cylinder block
    14 mm head bolt - 24.5 Nm (250kgf cm, 18 ft. lbf)
12 mm head bolt - 8.9 Nm (90 kgf cm, 78 in. lbf)

Water pump pully - 21 Nm (210 kgf cm, 16 ft lbf)
Cylinder block drain plug - 24.5 Nm (250 kgf cm, 18 ft lbf)

Also, since I'm also going to be replacing the radiator, the torque specifications for the four bolts that hold the radiator in are as follows:

12.5 Nm (125 kgf cm, 9 ft lbf)

I know this is way 'late in the day' for this post but I have similar situation (96 2wd 2rzfe auto) and this information does NOT apply to my truck: don't know about other Tacos but MY water pump bolts onto the timing cover w/ exception of x2 long 12 mm head bolts that go through the timing cover into the block. The remainder of the bolts are maybe a bit over an inch in length with a _10_ mm head.
I'm off to seek generic torque values for this bolt size (gotta measure it now dammit). If I come up with something that sounds appropriate I'll come back and post it for future seekers...

I see the same issue with the bolts on my 1995 Tacoma 2wd auto 2.4L water pump. There are 8 bolts with 10mm head and 2 long bolts with 12mm head. The FSM only lists torque specs for 14mm bolt head and 12mm bolt head. Wondering if anyone has some advice on this difference or know if it is just a misprint?????

Thank you ControlCar. I have the FSM page that you posted. My question is basically that my water pump seems to have smaller bolts that what is described in instruction 10. I have 8 bolts that are 10mm heads and 2 that are 12mm securing my water pump. I need to know if there is some direction out there to account for this difference and guidance on what torque to use for the 10mm head bolts and the two long 12mm head bolts? Another poster had the same issue.
