Got about an inch of water inside my cab. Carpet and padding has to be replaced due to mold and mildew from brackish water (thank you Galveston). Anything anyone recommend to help keep water out of the interior (assuming I have no choice but to ford through flooded roads)?

There's some speculation as to whether the rubber flooring from a 2nd gen will fit a 3rd.

what do you mean by vinyl flooring?

as in whole base carpet? or just floor matte like the one from weathertech and husky?

Only way to prevent your interior from getting wet is to not go in deep water...

Seriously, I don't think there's really a way to truly prevent water from getting inside. It may not seem like it, but the bodies are like swiss cheese. Holes everywhere. The BBC Top Gear guys couldn't even do it with filling every crevice with foam and welding the doors shut.

If you make a habit of crossing deep water, the best thing you can do is waterproof your low hanging electronics and rip the carpets out and spray it with rhyno lining or something. Make sure there's an easy way the water can get OUT, too.

not a floor mat. carpet is going to mold and mildew everytime you get it soaked so you have to replace it with vinyl or rubber flooring.

this is for a 2nd gen but something like this

IMO, this is still not a good idea. At least as far as dunking the thing in rivers, this would be only marginally better than carpet. You are still going to trap a whole bunch of water in very inaccessible places under this mat which will still mold.

These mats are good if you always have muddy/wet boots, but not for swimming with the truck.

Truck bed liner isn't even a "water proofing" solution...

If I’m not mistaken the vinyl floor coverings for work type trucks has insulation attached to the bottom of the vinyl. It still would hold water and mold.

Probably a bad idea to repeatedly flood the air bag connectors under the seats but there are several unsealed grommets on the cab floor as well as under the center console. The cab body also has grommets in the tubes under the thresholds that should be drained as well. I'd say if it's a regular issue then rip it all out and use bed liner.

Not to mention, the vinyl flooring has pads with fabric on it underneath just like the carpet does.
