I have an intermittent issue with my 21' TRD OR. Every so often, my wife will notice that there's a decent amount of water (or clear fluid) on the passenger floor-board. I've traced it to coming from up under the dash, specifically seems to be coming from the left side under the glove box kind of behind the radio. Anyone else had any similar issues?

It's a warranty issue, but try removing your cabin filter first and seeing if its wet.

It's inside your glove box behind a plastic cover.

Are you saying it's a known issue, or something that should be covered by warranty? I know it will be covered, but being that it's an intermittent issue, I was going to see if anyone knew more about it so I can explain a little better when I take it in.

It's not common no,. it could be a leaking windshield, water coming through the fan intake or the evaporator leaking.

It should be covered, but its nice to know yourself where the water is coming from.

If the cabin is wet, its less likely to be covered as it is water induced from the cowel.

Your A/C drain could be clogged.

do you have a sunroof? I had a nightmare scenario with mine. UGH. Fu*%^$& Toyota warranty sucks? 6 months in and I had a blocked sunroof drain ( who new sunroofs don't seal and have drip pans that collect water and drain) clog up and leak into the cab. Toyota claims outside influence. I say bad from the factory. They will not remediate. Im going to have to this spring. been fight a shitty mold smell in the cab. 42k truck!! anyway, don't get me started.

If the wife noticed it and it’s intermittent….maybe she just needs to curb her enthusiasm for the truck?

It does not have a sunroof and the condensate drain is not clogged. I actually did the mod that keeps it from dripping on the frame which I’m now considering reversing… not sure how that mod could’ve caused this but it’s worth a try.

Well, since that's how my '87 Legend and various '90's Accords worked, I'd guess a lot of folks over the last 35+ years knew. You know, similar to a convertible with rain rails front and rear.

Like debris clogging the drains. Sounds reasonable. I had a droptop I had to be sure the drains stayed clear on too.

    Too late...... :D

As suggested by @Bishop84 , remove your cabin air filter. (video included for reference to location and instructions of removal)

    https://youtu.be/L9ANx-DH7BM

Check to see if it is wet. If it is wet or has been wet, then the water is coming under the cowl. If it is dry then look to see if you can physically see where it is dripping from. If it is dripping from the HVAC housing, then it could be the Evaporator drain plugged. If it coming from somewhere else then it could be windshield or unlikely pin hole on weld joint. The cowl is the most common.

Yes, I have that problem when ac is on in the summer when it's humid out, not in short trips, but highway driving then slowing down or stopping! Had it to to dealer numerous times, dealer opened case w/ Toyota headquarters, Toyota is aware of this issue, but will not admit their is a problem! I think because it's not a safty issue, they are not gonna recall this problem as they did w/ 3rd light water leaks, that was a safty issue do to chance of corrosion and light fail! The issue is, HAVC BOX ON THE INSIDE OF TRUCK SWEATS ON THE OUTSIDE OF IT AND DRIPS WATER ONTO THE FLOOR!!!!!!!! TOYOTA TECH TOOK GLOVE BOX OUT WHILE I WAS THETE ONE TIME AND SHOWED ME! Has nothing to w/ drain hose being clogged or outside penetration! There is no fix for it so they just say operating as designed or characteristic of vehicle! No vehicle I or anyone else has is designed to leak water onto inside floor! Needless to say, this has forced me to pursue the lemon law, we are oast all the bullshit of each side demanding things and am in the setting court dates @ this point! Hopefully more people will not except Toyota trying to blow this engineering flaw design off and do whats right, but that would cost alot of money for recall and nobody's is dying from it so I don't expect for them to step up to the plate! Their is a thread on here labeled:Ac water leak: check it out, others have the same problem but I think they are just excepting water dripping, but im not!

Do you run the AC on recirculate?

If you run on fresh you are constantly introducing new humidity into the cab, allowing external condensation on the cold evap case.

If you run on recirc the in cab air should become much drier (reusing the same air) and reduce or eliminate the problem.

I've pretty much tried everything, it's auto climate, I usually set it @ 72° which it automatically does its thing! But I have pushed the recirculate button to see if it helps, but it still dripped! I commute about 60 miles one way and especially on them really humid Virginia mornings is when it does it, not so much in the evenings coming home when the air isn't as thick, but it still does it some! Never just idling or driving around town! I'm assuming all 3rd generations HAVC systems are the same? Does anyone know if or when Toyota HVAC systems might have changed or if they did?

I am having the exact same issue. Like the previous poster, I commute about 50 miles one way. On real humid and warm Memphis days, by the time I’m to work there is water on the passenger floor mat. One thing I noticed is that it seems to drain a ton of water out of the AC drain once the vehicle is stopped. I have suspected it might be collecting water in places that isn’t draining well until the vehicle is stopped.
I also added the tube to prevent the water from dripping on the frame, thinking perhaps there was positive pressure keeping the water from coming out of the drain…to no avail.
I replaced the filter and didn’t notice any water present under or around the cabin filter.
I’ve also played with the recirc and it doesn’t matter. This issue exists when the AC is on.

Hopefully everyone who has this issue files a complaint w/ Toyota Headquarters so they will fix this design flaw! No other vehicle I have ever owned or anyone one else's vehicle leaks water on the inside of vehicle when AC is running, unless drain hose is clogged, bad heater core or seal leaks! The one time I took it to the dealer when it was dripping they took the glove box out to try and find out where the water was coming from and the whole outside of the HVAC BOX was wet and dripping! Technicians was like, holy shit! They opened a case w/ Toyota but was told their is no fix and operating as designed! So dealer couldn't do anything and suggested I open a case w/ Toyota and I basically was told the same thing, so I'm pursuing the lemon law ! It is not right or normal to pay this much money for a vehicle and water drip on the floor!!!!!!!

I hear what I think is water dripping early in the morning on the passenger side. Only when there is water/condensation outside. It’s so loud that it sounds like water is leaking inside the passenger floorboard but I’ve yet to see any, though I check every time.

I know sunroof is already been mentioned earlier but I went through a process of trying to unclog my AC drain etc. and then did find that one of my sunroof drains was clogged and water was running down the passenger side wall and under the dash dripping onto the passenger floormat, just posting this so that if anybody else has pooling water on their passenger floormat like I did they can go right away and check the sunroof!
